Spoken word and noise go very well together, and the sonic manipulations make this a fairly interesting piece. It is worth a listen for its content as well as the way it has been manipulated, but I don't think I would ever really feel the need to listen to this again.
I think it is going to take a fairly open mind person to listen to this entire piece, and even the open minded might find it boring and a bit dragging at times. However, it is better that it is sparse than cluttered, it is good that you did not go completely overboard and know when to hold back.
From an artist's view, the sounds are getting more and more interesting as the song goes on. I can't tell what exactly you are doing all of the time, and I like that. But I don't think most listeners will be listening for things like this, and as I stated, will probably have grown bored before 1/3 of the way through.
Fans of pop music will hate it. Extreme fans of experimental music will find it intriguing (and various other synonyms).
anyone that is even the slightest bit interested in outsider art should listen to this.
It's so nice and serene, like walking through a foggy forest. At least that's kind of the picture in my head when I close my eyes. A really beautiful piece, excellent choice of instrumentation.
Sometimes it kind of makes you feel like you are floating.
I've heard too much stuff that uses this same kind of pop punk formula, however the vocal harmonies make these songs a lot more interesting to listen to than most other bands in the same vein of music.
I think "Sky Blue" definitely sticks out as the best track on this album. It is much better than the others, in my opinion.
If both of these songs had been completely instrumental, I think I would have enjoyed them a lot more. But the "Yo" and "Pick up the good vibration" samples really ruined it for me.
Other than that, the music held my interest fairly well, with enough repetition to make it catchy and enough variation to keep it from being boring.
I'd be interested to hear more from you.
by the time it had gotten through "la nouvelle", i had fallen in love.
The Waiter is catchy little lofi single with nice guitar riffs, a good head bobbing sort of beat, and a catchy melody. The kind that can really get stuck in your head, the kind of song that you can listen to over and over.
Few bands can pull off such obvious nods to the past without sounding like outdated, uninspired ripoffs. But this album nods without blatantly, shamelessly stealing.
The rhythms and melodies on this album are really interesting, not the typical run of the mill stuff you hear copied a thousand times over.
Rock fans should give this album a good, loud listen. It really deserves a chance.
They're pretty catchy songs that probably get stuck in peoples' heads.
