The Fumes - anaglyph

"christmas" is my favorite... i love the bongos (or whatever they're called) and the feel of the song fits the lyrics perfectly.

the whole sound is great.
there are some darker themes here, but pulled off in a slightly poppy feel and in shorter songs.
there are also a lot of subtle artistic choices --the guitar slide-up in "sleep" is pretty great--that add a unique signature to some of the songs.

great find.

An interesting and sometimes compelling collection of electronic and guitar sounds that create ambient, yet coherent, pieces. In my mind, they are lacking a bit of direction, especially the last piece, but I think it still works well as an "ambient" album.

The guitar is the focal point, which is generally a good thing, but the most interesting pieces arise when new sounds are introduced. My personal favorite is "Dry Bells Liquid."

The sound is very closed in and dry though. There's something about the feel of the production that makes me a little uneasy... depending on your mood, this could be a good or bad thing.

Overall, it does leave me wanting to hear some more developed pieces from Pseudo.

An intriguing listen.
I especially enjoyed the some of the noisier and wilder sounding passages...
"Frammenti di onde orientali" is the highlight for me. it has a propelling force behind its groaning tone that the other songs forego in favor of strange and attention-grabbing experimentation and improv.

it reminds me the guitarist from US Maple.(practicing some quiet passages, perhaps.)

Some beautiful lyrics with simple music.
It may sound a little like Elliot Smith, but who cares? Good stuff.

Personal data

hi pals! im a guy who plays guitars with effects and sings sort of. i like psych, folk, experimenting, noises, low fab, musique ersatz, etc Influences: lungfish, galaxie 500, the shins, gram parsons, joy division, xiu xiu, brainiac, american analog set i just hit record sometimes and see what happens. most of my songs are recorded as part of one long stretch. in some cases, 3 or 4 hours of audio is captured to get 3-6 minutes of useful "songs." the result is mostly all structured songs, though. im not just fuckin around on guitar, thank you very much. that being said, there is an abundance of me just fucking around on guitar...
