This album takes ska through so many different genres; the first 'ska-blend' album I've listened to from beginning to end without getting bored! Beautiful jazzy horn and keyboard breaks (Vide grenier), blues'n'slide (Playday, Motxo), southern-country-funk (Cadillac moon - think Little Feat w euro groove) - all with a great sense of humour. The ska pumps, the horns punch, the guitar rocks, the bass funks... Production didn't knock me out, some of the electro sounds likewise (especially on Sucre Interdit), but it made me smile, made me dance, made me happy! (Look for Cat Empire while you're at it, Australian band w same attitude).
Really love the textures of Nicoco's arrangements - this is an album I'd love to hear with a full band! I miss the grunt of live horns, bass, drums, but the tracks all rock, great writing, great arrangements, always interesting, always a surprise. Keep it coming, love what you're doing - bring on the band!
