I wonder why is A. Hardt listed twice on Jamendo. Someone ought to merge, since it's the same person with two records. Having heard the EP first, I am pleased to say improvement is audible (not that it's great, as stated in that review). Here, however, the schmaltz just keeps on pouring. There's a single half-decent track on this entire album. Listening to it, I kept thinking 'a waste of talent'. I knows it has been already said, but let's repeat: that powerful voice should be given a more appropriate outlet.
I recently decided to delete the (free) music I didn't like. And so, out of ~17 GB of music, currently only five or so albums have been deleted. Nanowar is now among the F8ed. For those who know anything about metal, it'll be obvious the name is a play on Manowar - but not only the name. Lyrics, music, the attitude - it's all there, only (even more) exaggerated, much like a similar band from Finland, King'O'War. And it could have worked. Or should I say, worked better. You see, it's not like it's an horribly bad album. I just find it fails to amuse me, except in a few places. And since it's _parody_, that failure isn't forgivable. Reading the other reviews, I conclude I am the minority, so anyone who enjoys metal and parody should probably check these guys out.
This is really great stuff, but I just feel something is lacking. Can't put a finger on it, though. Anyway, it's a really interesting listen, with my favorite being "Coffee after six" - with a bit less cheese it would be too awesome to suffer :)
Listenable, bearable, but not much beyond that. With two average songs, four weak and one pretty good, it's just enough for one not to delete it. However, that this is an enjoyable vocalist, there is no doubt - but really needs better material.
This is pretty good stuff, starts quite strong, but meanders at places, and some of the songs are just bearable, ie skip material. The lyrics are consistently (or so it seems, didn't read 'em) weird, though, which fills me with joy.
The other reviewers sum it up well - this is very Evanescence-like. So if you like E., you'll probably love this, and should really think the rating as between 8 and 10. However, a correction: This is not metal. By any definition. I think that tag should be removed, since this pops up when you search for most popular metal albums on Jamendo. It's misleading. Part of the music industry problem is exactly that - they're trying to sell you something by appealing to your taste - and since the music on Jamendo should not, by definition, suffer from that problem, there's no reason to call this something it isn't.
As for me, I think the title and rating say it all, this is horrible, trite stuff.
The point is for effort and choosing to distribute here, of course.
This is an awesome album. No, really. If you don't download it, you'll make the robot sad. Erm...sadder.
It does have a few problems, though. Biggest of which is that a couple of songs aren't up to par. So, while there is room for improvement (almost always is), I recommend most highly. It's just immensely fun to listen to.
