What has not been said about Jazz U? There's an almost unconscious subtlety to the change of moods from dreamy revery to driven intensity, from flirtation to flame. I often get the sensation that Antony is feeding my soul, serving up ear candy and Canapés, just when I was starving. MMMMMmmmm. And that stirs me.
I've been listening to this for so long now, that it's seems an old favorite, with prime real estate on my ipod, in my car cd player, and even (i confess) as a fresh addition to an old game soundtrack I still enjoy playing. That should give you an idea of this artist's versatility, smooth and classic with an edge.
But the real surprise here is Lightin. Somehow it remains fresh, every time I listen I'm mesmerized again, powerlessly drawn in by the hypnotic rhythms, otherworldly harmonies, the inscrutable enticement of mystery and danger yet beauty and grace.
Uplifting downtempo, this beautiful melody serves as a poignant backdrop, musically punctuated by the thrilling exuberance of a soaring spirit.
This is truly a gift, I love it.
I felt this music stroke my heart with the soft gentle caress of broken downy wings, but it then carried me to bed where we healed each other's wounds.
There is an element of House here that I expected to put me off from it initially, but knowing I usually enjoy this artist's work, and trusting the person who sent it to me to have a point, I let it play while I carried on with my busy-ness.
Almost immediately I was hooked, wanting to hear more, there are moments of stunningly glorious beauty couched by rhythms that carry you forward on a mystical train ride, the rhythm becomes the wheels, while a landscape of magical vistas parade across the aural scenery, and you don't want it to end. It's that good.
