Soul of the Machine is an industrial band from central Ohio with influences that range from the heavy, to the relaxed, to the danceable, and a lot of what falls between - all mixed into one united whole. Soul of the Machine is the musical brainchild of Dave Williams, who composed, wrote and sequenced the "Rise. Fall. Repeat." album's music and tracks starting in 2005. Seeking a vocalist to complete the album, Dave drafted long-time musical cohort Nick Bain.
Initially the band was going to exclusively be a studio/recording project, and no plans were made for live performance. After the release of "Rise. Fall. Repeat." generated a lot of positive feedback and excitement/encouragement, Dave and Nick decided to attempt to put together a live show. Over the course of 2007, they spent a great deal of time planning, rewriting and reworking the "Rise. Fall. Repeat." material, as well as amassing new gear with which to do this, and are currently performing these alternate versions live.
While working on the live show, new songs also began to emerge. For the first time working collaboratively for Soul of the Machine, the sound began to evolve, which led Dave to extend the invitation for Nick to become an actual member/collaborator as opposed to the "hired gun" vocalist. They are currently working on new material and intend to release another album that is co-written in the coming months.
Their debut album, "Rise. Fall. Repeat." ranges from the quietly introspective to the overtly violent, and from the moody and emotional to the danceably upbeat.
"Rise. Fall. Repeat." was released to the public June 6, 2006. It was a limited edition CDR run of 100 copies, and the remaining copies are available by contacting the band directly or at shows until they are gone.
