These tracks have heavy overtones of The Prodigy, especially with the use of distorted guitar, producing the same sort of hard rock/dance crossover that the Braintree (my town too) ravers have. Use of digital sampler sounds bring to mind the KLF.
Some very polished digital drumming on the second track, a lot like the Knightrider theme. The band is from Russia apparantly, and there's a lot of Eastern vibes there too.
Plenty of variation to keep interest up, as with The Prodigy, with a hefty drum and bass breakbeat keeping things moving along.
God, I miss the rave scene :(
superb album. I'll listen to the whole thing I think...

Thanks for sharing this superb work. As said in the review title, I'm not really into this sort of stuff, it's sort of 90's Kate Bush clone based rather like Alanis Morrisette and Tori Amos. However, it must be said that it's just as good, in fact better in some respects as this album feels less overproduced and more human.
There's a rather nice Sheryl Crowe-esque 70's Bob Dylan "swampy" feel to the instrumentation. I like the use of violin which mixes country & western with British folk. The mix feels "free" and "airy" without being too sloppy or loose .
And it gets better as it goes on too. Broken Hearted Fool really does sound like Kate at her best. On the subject of which K.T. Tunstall seems to be an influence too.
I think there's a lot of potential in this material, because it has the crossover to attract a diverse audience. To top it all, there's more than enough melodic elements and hooks.
Classic and classic, love it....

Not seen anything like this before on Jamendo. Very simplistic, but works OK. Whatever you think of the music (it's not bad and there's some high quality midi samples used) the ringtone idea is novel enough to be worthy of a mention!
Jamendo and Creative Commons continue to go from strength to strength with the quality of music and artistes available through the site.
This track wouldn't be out of place on an Amy Winehouse or Noisettes album.
The singing is superb, with a warm and jazzy 1960s feel to the production. A lot of modern commercial recordings suffer from over brightness, fortunately this doesn't fall into the same trap. There's a lot of mid 1970's Bob Dylan and Dire Straights (the two acts collaberated around this era too)
Personally, we'd absolutely love to work with such a brilliant artiste.
Best of luck for the future, and thanks for sharing this music with the online community...
Very relaxing, about God and stuff. We never seem to hear a lot of this sort of music in the media in the UK. It's a shame because there's few outlets other than the indernet for independent religious works or art - we now get "evangelical" channels but there's political and money issues underpinning these stations.
But back to the music, there's a lot of classic melodies to be sought out here- I particularly like the "I'd like to teach the world to sing" influences in The Wedding of Cana..
The only real issue is the dynamics aren't quite as good as they could be. It's a difficult choice though for an artist- between recording in the personal environment (such as the bedroom) and going to a studio with a good producer and losing some of that personality, being traded for a better "musical" sound. If you're in the UK, we'd possibly be interested in working with you, as this sort of thing is up our street.
best wishes

This is wonderful gospel-tinged disco-pop , with a lot of similaritities to Mariah Carey and The Spice Girls. There's quite a lot of ABBA in there too- I think there's a male vocal somewhere.
Happy, light and uplifting, I'm not sure what the words are about because of not speaking the lingo.
All in all very good, and very poppy , though with a harder underground edge than today's commericial pop. Is this a church group or something? Anyway, a very enjoyable all round listen...
best of luck for the future!

I don't listen to a lot of stuff like this. Apart from the issues arising from the use of digital synthesisers and recording technology, this is a stunning creative piece in every respect.
If I had the odd hundred grand to sling around (sadly I don't but we can all dream) one thing I'd like to do is re-record this project using a big money budget with live musicians and top quality analog recording equipment. Maybe a film producer mike take a liking to it and finance the talented people behind this superb peace of work.
Whilst some of the synthy nature certainly IS an issue, the integration between the classical and the techno elements within this production is at the same time worthy of note.
An enjoyable discovery!

This is pretty much bang up to date Urban stuff as is playlisted on MTV Europe regularly! It's not quite as finely edited (little use of the quite ghastly autotune) , which I think actually improves this sort of music which can suffer from overproduction. Elements run from about 1991 to the present day. Latin emphasis in the beats with hints of euro-techno. I like the acapella intro - I think that really can be developed, as there's room for a half-decent "boy band" with harmonies and production aproaching the standard of Destiny's Child etc. The UK band JLS do not sound as good singers as this- I think top backup vocals would really make a mark in male R&B
It my well be very worth producing English language versions of some of this material for exposure in the UK or US. Very commercial, and I think the act is original enough to merit success.

This is drum & bass done at it's best - the dynamic range and range of sounds is absolutely superb and despite the dance/electronica theme the sound mix is comparable to top acoustic performers.
I think this is a must-download for underground music DJs, particularly those on the UK urban or liquid scenes.
I'll listen and learn I think...
best britpop for years. and not even by brits....
80's britpop fans will love it... more please!
