Josh Woodward - The Simple Life

Josh Woodward

The Simple Life

19/06/08

In a world that seems to be constantly focusing on the easiest and fastest ways to make $$$ it seems that Josh Woodward is trying to start a revolution.

This album is Amazing!

Not because of the lyrical poetry that somehow maintains its purity in the face of the ever present danger of pretentiousness that in many other cases can easily envelope even the most aware of artist,

Nor for his intoxicatingly simple, yet, complex rhythms and musical compositions.

But singly for the message that is incipient in this album from start to finish.

Josh Woodward wants to change the world. However in attempting this he maintains a certain aloofness from the subject matter in a way that allows his own interpretation of his goal to show through - That of its seemingly utter impossibility.

This tongue and cheek approach shows that Woodward is not a naive personality who believes that current world perspective can 180 instantly. However he has still created a library of thoughtful songs that are designed not only to entertain, but also to inspire his audience to greater heights.

Listen to this album as much as you can, and then give some money to this guy, because he has already given us something that will someday soon have a significant positive impact on our social system.

I can't believe this is a free album - This album is just as good if not better than 99% of the commercial releases over the past five years.

I don't know what I could say that would say it better than the review above, but I had to write a review anyway.

Awesome demo

Ben's blend of soul-full vocals and flawless guitar, mixed with his ability to write beautiful lyrics, makes this album hard to believe that its free.

This is the kind of release that manages to whet your appetite for what's next.

Let's just hope that Ben Hammond doesn't keep us waiting too long...

These guys are crazy

But i like it

melodious and quirky and over too quick, skadyll leaves you wanting more, which is always better than wishing for less, but in this case i would really like to have at least a couple more minutes to figure out what's going on with this.

Overall: Good - gimmie more

This is the sort of album that needs somebody to make an independent film with it as the soundtrack

preferably animated, but black and white could be another way to go.

Very imaginative.

Play this when your trying to activate that part of your brain you don't use as much. This will set you off into never-never-land or something like it.

It makes me think of waterfalls or nature or something relaxing, but at the same time it is a very mental, very internalized kind of sound.

Not for everybody and not for the gym, but if you need to chill out and space this is for you.

This is stuff that pumps you up.

Put this on your ipod and get sh-t done

write a paper, go to the gym, or just get in on your stereo and turn it up - you got a party.

Awesome songs - Make more

This is the total package when it comes to the beat the vocals and the accompaniment.

I don't understand the words, but it doesn't matter with this one - It's gold.

Perhaps this would be better if i understood the words, but unless this is that kind of punk that doesn't care about sounding good, than you might need to try again.

I think that you have something to start with, because you can play alright, and your voice isn't bad, but over all the sound sucks.

A lot of that is in the recording, so if i were you I'd multi track your guitar and vocals out so you can get better levels and maybe put an EQ or some kind effects on top to fill it out a little more.

I know this is just a demo, probably so you can have your friends check it out or whatever, so I'm probably being a little harsh...

Also i don't know what your saying and that doesn't really help.

So i guess...

Keep at it you're on the right track.

Creepy, but in a good way.

Like that crazy dream when you're at a circus and all the clowns are trying to eat you or something.

Personally i don't know what to make of this album, but i like it.

There's a couple singles on here that are excessively creepy, but again in that good way.

"Hello Stranger" and "At the edge of Town" and of course "God's view"

For an a experimental album I would say that the experiment is a success, but at the same time I'm kind of worried that i might have nightmares with clowns who knows what else
