stars of the lid meets Can - a very fine album this touches of Peter Broderick and Aim. Has lots of lovely nuances and echoes I particularly like Rubber as a stand-out track but I can't fault the whole album. If you like this style of music then Williamson's A Few Things.... is definitely the one.
Reminds me of Finlandia - can't say more than that really - huge imopressive sweeping majestic and yet calm peaceful touching just all-round greatness.
but this album has great depth and feeling and Ms Crowe has a very fine, beautiful voice - somehow she reminds me of Buffy St-Marie and Sia amongst others but her own style, I am very impressed and pleased to listen to this album and I would recommend Ms Crowe to anyone who likes Feist or Regina Spector.
A great find - this artist has a voice almost up there with Cat Powers and I don't give that comparison lightly as I am a great fan of the same. I don't whether Madelaine drinks burbon and smokes Lucky's but what a superb voice; smoky, aching frgile and powerful - I wish her great success. All tracks are stand outs but Together has real class.
Not a great fan of this genre but I found hi album to be intelligent and refreshingly different - when I listen to this and listen to say Roots Manuva's latest I find this Dub Kitchen has more ideas and greater movement forward -its not Madlib but deserves wider audience
has potential but whether this guy will hit a wider audience I am not sure - it's not strictly club music nor is it "chill" however i'll be playing it and hopefully people will ask about it's pedigree - could be th next Mylo?
but great fun - another chance encounter on Jamendo and a joy to have found the lyrics are as mad as anything I've heard in ages. long may the Kazoos write and perform such wild and inventive stuff. Sometimes music like this can be too bizarre for it's own good but this album hits the right balance and pushes all the buttons - will they be great - well if they play any of the festivals this summer no reason why not. Love Wisdom of the Beard - love this album.
