The first track, Air Barriers, is really put together well. Nice balance and presentation. Well constructed and thoroughly interesting, with a nicely meted sense of passion. The second track tickles my fancy, for all its softness it has a slightly raw edge, which appeals immensely. I speak as a listener and cannot help but like this album so far. Great vocals and nicely adventurous. Formed of clay, fire, soot and bone, is fantastic sound from the word go. I love this voice, and it is so well fused with the instrumentalism. Wonderful stuff with such elegant variation. If only real-world economics were this well-tuned!
The fourth track is fascinating, not only in its title of some strange manipulative collective and their activity, but musically it has a fairly unique and conducive air. An intricate puzzle in conception and reception. Glad I picked this one out for a listen for sure. Seems like they found just what they were looking for. "What if those heavy things cracked their little brittle bones to the marrow?" Exquisite entitled and exceptional in productivity, with a lovely dynamism to it. You can almost feel the pain of those bones breaking. Brilliant work. The sixth track sounds like an impromptu jam and is so sweetly achieved.
The red phone is ringing, continues the atmosphere through as if the sixth were the introduction to the seventh. Again, the achievement to entertain my brain goes on. Then, 'you sleuth you', is a fairground rhythm and worthy of a dance around the fire. As for the ninth track, I am somewhat inclined to disagree, on the face of it, but that's not down to me. It takes two to tango. There is, however, a dearth of female philosophers. A fairly stunning track. Very nice arrangement and performance. In the next place, cement will float like trees, sounds like where I'm heading for. Truth be told I can hardly wait. Cracking album, thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to listen on some decent speakers; until then I can't totally tell, but I think the production might need a little work. Very refreshing to listen to. This band takes risks and has a lot of great ideas. I'd love to hear more.
YESS!
Wspaniała wokalistka na tle oryginalnej, mrocznej muzyki z pogranicza rocka i elektroniki. Taki trip-hop w manierze hipnotycznej.
Quirky? Oh yes - and underpinned by fascinating rhythms and lots of light and shade.
Pleased to have been able to play "What if those little creatures..." on Suffolk 'n' Cool show 132 (http://www.suffolkandcool.com).
