I particularly liked Find a Reason, Beautiful Guitar and She Swings. The guitar work is great! Its acoustical rocky and whimsical. I really liked it.
Simply breathtaking and absorbing stuff.... from this guy..that I basked inside off...and day dreamed..and thought about.. As he sang and spoke to me..direct from his heart and soul...talking to mine..
This album has the high quality level in songwriting and the improved production standard as the second Album, but the taste of it is different. More hitting the point, compact. And it is nice to have a real long-player!
1. Like a stone
A fine Rainman - song, mature - it circles into itself like... following a point on a spiral. Try in repeating it halve an hour! It´s a meditative event. But it has an unfortunate position on the album, while bringing the blood down. Too calming for an opener.
2. Twisted and shy
The song is lovely written, cool progress in the refrain! But again I am really not satisfied with the e-guitar-sound. Using a JCM 800 / Maverick / AC30 und a little EQ-ing for those parts would give it the punch you have in mind, so it stays rather rasping in high mids.
3. Good fellow
A payback-song. The crunchy sound fits good, pretty smokie and very nice voicing all over!
Well, I´d like to hear the modulation speed more close to the rhythm and the middle section is a little strange. Somehow heaven and hell.
4. She swings
Super-sweet-candy-pop, the world is coloured! No edges, everything is rounded down, allright - but while you always so tight playing, what happenend to the bass-slide? ;-)
5. Songs on earth
I would advise to listen to it before going into oncoming stress. It feels like centering oneself with the cycling picking. I makes me calm and clear. Very good voicing!
6. Blue blood
One, two, three – storytelling! Would SHE be amused? Nevermind. Fine, easy entertainment!
7. You
One of his real big songs. Beautiful refrain dramatic! Bel Canto by Rainman. (only the (pre-)delay of the too small room reverberation would have not been my choice)
8. I do it for money
In-your-face-lyric on an easy flowing, but nice swelling and ebbing guitar work. I love the refrain singing style. Play it at maximum volume, sing at maximum volume!
10. Find a reason
Fine, but not mine. (and too small reverberation room, boxes your voice)
11. Beautiful guitar
The song is a smiling sun, works perfectly raising the corners of ones mouth. Palm muted strumming drives it great! Nice voicing by both of you. And the story: True humour or hilarious truth?
12. Nowadays
Hmm, a little strange about it. Has everything what it needs, but is somehow weird. The delayed "Truth"s sound like repeated by oneself. And there is a strange pumping compression in the 2. verse when the keys enter ducking everything else down, and the bass does a lot but is lost without attack. Sorry.
13. Poverty
Ooops, the 5 tones melody and sound send me into B-52s "Channel Z"?! A just flowing song, nice while driving...
14. Belong
"Belong" approaches sensitive to the listeners, leaves heartache. Plays a movie in mind, soundtrack-like, again! Beautiful. ...ffffffffff...
Thank you for the wounderful moments I had with all of your music! Again!
