How refreshing to find someone with the courage to put work such as this here, amongst all the wannabe rock stars and "djs".....
You must send this to BBC 3 Late Junction.
Just one small thing, they are obviously live recordings and some "sheen" has been lost, they lack a little breadth and air.But who can complain when this level of composition and playing falls in your lap
Bravo!
Its like an impressionist painting...
Colours become sound, lost voices from the mountains, great spaces become near, yet still far..focused and unfocused.
Familiar and still strange...
Its still refreshing to find a voice and guitar alone sometimes. This is one case as such. Glimses of vocal harmonies not unlike simon & garfunkel, and an honest feel about the whole thing.
Perhaps a better & seperate mic for the vocals would have done it more justice.
And i'm sure some simple acoustic solo work on some numbers would lift them up more.
Despite the few drops in audio quality, its still nice to hear this sort of thing done well.
Well this is like no sex I have encountered! ( I am a trained sex therapist, I kid you not)Track two reminded me of a "naughty" video I saw involving midgets!! (note to self.. must see that again)
I suppose using the word "sex" in the title may make this release dangerous, but its just a soft old pussy (excuse the pun)
A bit too soft for me (excuse that one as well please)
Well this had me a little confued at first, and a bit more later. Many influences coming through here, tracks 1&2 started like Michael Brook intros, and I thought "hello",they then both ended like King Crimson at the outros..
track 3 went bye me, tell me are tracks 5 & 8 live in the studio? Then it gets confusing because 6 was all soothing and Genesis like same for tracks 8,9,& 10 in waltz time!By the way track 7 got me thinking of iggy pop (no bad thing)
This is an album of two halves, perhaps that reflects the members of the band and their tastes.
What cannot be denied is the proficiency and execution of their work,I will bet they would be rather interesting live,if they can recreate that.
I have reviewed another album elswhere not dissimilar that would losely fit this genre, and this is miles better.
Shame my language skills are restricted, I'm sure it would mean more to me,but bravo for sticking to your mother tongue and not going "american"
Fairly sure "mom" must have been distraught that all that money spent on instruments amounted to this..ah well, soon be time to don the suit and talk revolution at the internet/coffee shop.
Hmmm...touches of Herbie Hancock "sextant" more after he had taken a large dose of "stuff". Some other 70s experimentalist electronic jazz. Interesting tones, but need to get away from that what I suspect is a free vst instrument with the same present on all tracks.Experiment with it,you might be surprised. It has promise, needs a guiding hand.
bemused
I know I shall be the target for hate mail....but...
where's the heart, the soul, and more importantly the originality in this.Granted technically (ie. recording, mix etc) a fair sound production. But it seems to lack some spark,it does'nt explore new ground,or twists. I downloaded this some weeks ago elsewhere,in anticipation of new horizons, and all I found was the same ground being turned over again.Oh well....keep searching
Enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes.Groove one minute, chill the next.Cool sounds and good vocals....yeh,I'll get this one!
