I have no words to describe this album. Oddly enough, I have seen many records on jamendo described as "Prog rock" by their authors without being even partially progressive, while I would more than happily put this tag here, for what it implies... Wonderful, Creative, Beautiful, Arty... music doesn't gets much better than this.

There is such a palette of musical colors here is outstanding. You have the Beatlesque affair "Barcelona", the King Crimson-like "At Odds", the Radiohead's "Ordinary Day"... there is an art rock wonderful style plaguing all the album not unlike Radiohead's last disks, and a jazz rock sensibility (like Karate or King Crimson) that just took my breath when I listened to the album, and some latin/bossa feel in some songs (that I don't like too much), folk, ambient, postrock... Even though, the sound is extremely creative and original, merging all these influences and surely many others and adding a personal touch I love. The experimentation in sounds, effects and samples is highly rewarding, and the instruments surprises (like the eastern-styled violin of "Ender" -which incidentally brings to my mind "Lark's Tongues in Aspic", or the brass section in some songs) are just a delightful encounter.

The music gets drown a little bit in songs like "Barrio Chino", that remembers me more of Manu Chao and the such... definitely not my kind of music, and IMHO, these musicians can give much MUCH more, although the flute solo returns me to the good mood of the album, the good jazz-indie-art-whatever-rock :D.

Except for the latin/bossa feel, maybe one of the VERY best records I have listened since Radiohead's "Kid A", and if that's not a recommendation, I don't know what is. The recording quality it superb and the playing and effect application is flawless. There is too much in this disk to absorv just with a few listens, it requires more.

I'm not usually much into vocal records, as I prefer instrumental works by far, but here the voices are just so charming and nicely sung... just how I like singing, sweet but strong at the same time. I have been very surprised by this album, a strange discovery in a world full of commercial, banal or mediocre music.

Instant fan.

Beautiful and interesting disc. Not truly progressive, in the sense of "Yes" or "King Crimson"... more like a psych folk-rock affair with an arty attitude. Beautiful instrumental work, specially the flute. Some passages reminds me of "Pinturas y Expresiones" by "Agnus", an Argentinian folk prog group or some good old italian groups from the 70's, but... then the voice...

I think the voice doesn't really fit into the music, maybe its more akin to groups like evanescence or the such... very "pop"/"conventional" most of the time, soul at other times, it even ruins some otherwise splendid passages... It has its moments like at the beginning of gloomy just before turning again into "pop" territory and conventional melodies. Fortunately the instrumental work is very well constructed, and more than makes up for it, 'though, alternating between soft and hard passages with ease and great instrumental domain. The music has very interesting turning points, and the guitarist should be specially proud of his/her work in this issue.

Drums and voice are maybe too high in the mix for me (drums specially are too "heavy" played AND mixed, a softer approach would work better with this material in my honest opinion), but apart for that, the mixing and recording work is pretty good.

Congratulations, I will listen to your other works.

Very beautiful gem of post-rock here. Rooted in the classical sound of mono-explosions in the sky of two guitars, bass and drums, the music moves you within several emotional realms. The musicianship and recording quality are excellent. The mood is very much in the Mono vein of nostalgic/apocalyptic sadness. The drummer remembers me easily of the explosions in the sky's drummer with his heavy use of martial snare drumming.

Some tracks (mainly "3x3+2" and "Rien pour l'instant") remembers also me of Kid-A/Amnesiac epoch Radio-head.

My favourite song of the EP is "Scorpion Rouge, avec Dolph Lundgren", because the beginning is more light/upbeat and less doomy overtly dramatic.

Apart from being short in size, the only criticism I have on this disc is that music gets VERY predictable at times, following all the overused clichés of post-rock such as obvious crescendos and explosions (very much in the Mono fashion), specially on tracks "Lichen A" and "Rien pour l'instant").

Overall, a very pleasant and thoughtful album that sets for a very enjoyable listen. Keep up the good work!

I have been overwhelmed by this disc. After reading "lte5280"'s review, I must say I cannot agree with him at all. I don't see that obvious resemblances to King Crimson, neither Pink Floyd, Cage, Zappa or the others. What I hear here is very original music of a kind I thought only reserved to extremely obscure releases such as Ys by Balleto dil Bronzo or such, not for a similarity in music, but for the great show of musical intricacy, compositional skills and brave approach to music. Ranging from contemporary classical music, progressive folk, avant-garde, free-form jazz, choral music... too much to enumerate.

The disc is an authentic experience that deserves to be listened, the compositions are all well thought to reach some disctintive emotion or intention, and the musical and vocal skills of the musicians are outstanding. Congratulations, and thanks for allowing me to share this wonderful experience.

Maybe a disc not to be listened by everyone (it can be hard for many), but I am just grateful of having discovered it.

I have been following your music since "Fingertips". I think this album shows some clear development, as you are gaining confidence in the instrument and in your capacities as a good composer. I love your simple, sad approach to the music.

However, there is still a lot to develop. The album gets too short at just 16 minutes.

The sound is still the biggest problem with your work, unless your intention is to keep your sound distorted and buzzy, but in this case you have still some path to walk to reach the mastery of lets say Library Tapes, forestflies or similar artists. This is a great problem that avoids fully enjoying your work in my opinion. The clearest example is in my fave track, "Last Day of a Postman", there you have some really beautiful melodies and passages, but the terrible hiss and noise coming from a bad recording/mixing doesn't allow me to fully enjoy it. All tracks suffer more or less from this bad recording issue. Some parts may also benefit from a softer playing technique, like on "Child with a Broken Violin".

Anyway, I can see some huge development in your confidence and compositional skills, congratulations on this new beautiful record!

I am finding a lot of albums these days on jamendo tagged by their authors as "Progressive Rock". Well, that's a strong tag to put on your music. By stating that you are doing "progressive rock" you are affirming some qualities on your music that take it above "plain" rock or pop/rock. I am a great lover of prog rock (both old and new) and that's why I stopped to listen to your album, and well I find it to be partially progressive at most.

Don't get me wrong, your album is a very nice collection of good (very good) pop-rock songs, but they are very poor for progressive rock standards. Almost no soft-hard dynamics to be found, plain instrumentation, no strange rhythmics (4/4 all the time), no strange harmonic variations... just plain pop-rock.

If you intend to walk the road of progressive rock, congratulations! keep on the work, as you have a long path to walk still, but as a pop-rock band, you are pretty good.

Although pop is not my style, when it is done well and music is art, tags aren't important either, just like in this case. Your album reflects a surprisingly great composition capacity, and I love how you merge sound after sound without fearing on experimenting with sound, noise and texture. All songs have a symphonic pop quality I love, specially the instrumental ones. Beautiful.

However, the album has its flaws. First, it is only 11 minutes in length, that is not enough to hear and understand your music. On the other hand, I think your instrumental compositions are the best, because your voice is so derivative of "Los planetas" spanish group, and the song "Un planeta menos" could have been extracted directly from their albums "Una semana en el motor de un autobús" or "Unidad de desplazamiento". Even the mix, burying the voice, remembers "Los planetas"
