I pretty much liked your disc "Ooooh", and I decided to explore the rest of your work. While this disc shows the same looping approach than the first one, it turns out not as successful for me. The textures are more "electronic/techno" and less organic and they don't work too much for me unfortunately. Besides several exceptions (like the Mike Oldfield-like guitar of "Mistwood" for example or the fragile beauty of "The Screening Generation"), the songs don't grow on me, even though they keep the bravery and risky approach.

Also, in my honest opinion you have lost here some special quality that made "Oooh" so beautiful to me, the fact that music was constructed from the addition of some simple, "non-ego" parts (if you know what I mean) that were merged seamlessly without no instrument or phrase standing "out" of the rest. Here, it seems to me that some instruments (specially guitar in some parts of many songs) want to "impress" with a quick phrase, thus loosing all the added stasis or climax. "Transit Area Wonders" is maybe the best example. It has some building up parts with flute that start growing in beauty, when suddenly they are disrupted by some electronic-like screams on sax(?) or guitar(?) that cuts all development.

I find lot of good music here, and I am sure people with a more techno/electronic background would appreciate this disc better, but for me is not nearly as beautiful or appealing as "Ooooh". Anyway a very interesting work. Looking forward your third.

This work is an outstanding set of experimental tracks that touches several styles of music with a common frame of looping. The tracks shows a great deal of experimentation and musical bravery. Maybe they are not easy to listen for everyone, but you manage to create a sound of your own and to reach some kind of "ectasis" wall of noise and sound that I believe is what Philip Glass was all about in monolithic compositions like "Music in Twelve Parts" or "Einstein on the Beach", or Steve Reich's "It's gonna rain". Like it or not, you have created a piece of pure minimalism beauty. I love the way you use the flute as a percussion in a very Jethro Tull/locomotive breath fashion in pieces like "Running Librarians" or "Infiltrating the Machines".

Regarding the cover, I have to say I disagree with SaReGaMa. I find the cover pretty cool, it has a somewhat "beatlesque" feel to it (Yellow Submarine?). Some very good (Gong) or even commercial (Gorillaz) bands have made wonderful music or money with this kind of covers, so I think you should keep using them, don't let anyone tell you that you should put a more "successful" or "commercially" aimed cover.

I find your work amusing, will listen to your other albums.

I think this is a wonderful EP. There are a lot of influences to be heard, and in most cases merged seamlessly in a coherent whole. I can hear some psychedelic influences, but "Deconstructing Fidel" links back to the minimalism experiments of the first works of Steve Reich, such as "It's gonna rain" or "Come out". Other songs have a 70's Santana's kind of folk-rock feeling, and I can hear some post-rock here as well, and even some jazz.

I love the way you use the vocal samples to create rhythmic patterns much like Steve Reich, specially in "Deconstructing Fidel". and "R.I Police".

It is clear to me that you are trying to find new ways of expressing music, congratulations.

This album has a nice collection of post rock pieces. All songs are well thought and... well, kind of "correct". Everyone plays well and the music is nicely constructed. My problem with this album is that it doesn't move me at all. I can't find an emotional moment here, nothing that transmits me something (nostalgia, sadness, joy, happiness or any other abstract feeling...), which is what I look for in music (specially in instrumental one).

The compositions are fine, just that they don't grab my attention with a concrete feeling. The sound quality is very good and the cover very "arty".

I will look forward your other works.

This album shows a great potential. The usage of the piano is delicate and sweet, and the melodies are just beautiful, but the songs lack fluency and the piano player seems doubtful in some parts, just like if he is trying to remember which part came next. "Bertrand" is my favorite.

The sound quality can be improved, as the piano sounds distorted in some parts, but the atmosphere is there.

I guess these songs will sound awesome with more self-confidence in yourself, cheer up!

Good work.

Wow! what a great surprise. Your album fusses a lot of influences I love in a coherent masterpiece. Minimalism, Yann Tiersen, Pink Floyd, ambient, post rock, folk...are all merged seamlessly in each song.

The lo-fi feeling and the background samples only add charm and haunt to the music. There is an "old-record" feeling through the album I love. While playing is not perfect, its little imperfections only add indeed to the music. Most songs have an innocent and eerie aura around them that somehow get me thinking of things I thought forgotten.

I find the album just beautiful, I could listen to it a dozen times a day.

Congratulations for your masterpiece. Please give us more.

I think tags aren't that important, what is important for me is if the music is good or not. In this case, 'though, I have to say this is NOT A PROGRESSIVE ROCK record by any means. Obviously there are some prog influences, but I think this is a very nice folk (even folk rock) record. This music has little to do with camel, yes, anglagard, king crimson or even folk-prog like gentle giant, renaissance or gryphon.

Past this issue, this album is pretty good! The vocalist has a very distinctive voice, and the band manages to get a sound of their own. Some pretty mind-blowing vocal harmonies to be found, too. The music, although somewhat frenzy (with eclipses being the exception) shows a very tasteful medieval influence I love. The guitarist knows how to create layers of guitar chords to a good effect, I just wish he showed more delicacy in some parts, to reach a balance between soft/hard parts.

Overall, a wonderful and tasteful record that deserves to be known. I will recommend it, congrats!

The album is not bad, and I can see some huge potential here, but in my opinion this demo lacks something. The compositions are waaaaaaay too long, without any emotional development or sense of climax or ecstasis supporting that overlong structures. Also, some songs seems to me a copy&paste of several ideas without any musical or conceptual sense, for example "set 2" starts with some riff repeated over and over and then stops for no concrete reason and starts with another non-related part. Maybe you had an intention there, but I don't catch it, other than having a ten minute song instead of two shorter ones. The sound quality is bad, but not that bad for a demo either.

Anyway, as I have said, there is a huge potential in these musicians. They have good musical ideas and know how to interact as a whole. I hope hearing more music from you.

Felicidades.
