"aughrim anno 1691" beschreibt die zeit nach der schlacht, in der ca. 7 000 mann für die irische freiheit ihr leben liessen. vermutlich entstand das lied während der rückkehr der überlebenden zu ihren heimatdörfern, wonach die freude am leben zu bleiben gegenüber der verlorenen, blutigen schlacht überwog.

aufgeschrieben wurde das stück erst gegen 1845. das original dauert nur 40 sek. schon vor längerer zeit fand ich die noten im netz und war fasziniert von der einfachen klarheit und lebensfreude.

das stück habe ich wie eine fuge aufgebaut, in der jedes instrument die gleiche melodie spielt und nach und nach einsteigt bis zum epochalen finale. authentisch wie möglich sollte das stück sein, allerdings habe ich mir erlaubt meine persönliche note mit einfliessen zulassen um anzudeuten, dass freiheit auch heute und in der zukunft ein grundbedürfnis der menschheit ist.
