This EP started life down a pub in my local town, where I met Dominic Higgins who was interesting in singing and writing songs. Dom sings on the first four tracks.
Deja Vu: An eclectic blend of Smiths, Coldplay and, for fun, Mandy Smith. Andrew Lloyd Webber type track. The story behind it relates to the problems faced by anyone stuck in some kind of loveless hole.
Dream Lover: Can't Mix Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Arctic Monkeys bastardised with riffs nicked off Steps.
Jannie's Song. A bit like Old Country Waltz (Neil Young?) and Annie's Song, hence the title. My first attempt at doing something in waltz time I think.
Sweet Liberty: About daring to be different and not wanting to be just another cog in the machine.
Add a heavy dose of The Divine Comedy and you have an EP which is a truly unique affair!
Recession. (A.K.A. Deck Of The Titanic) There's always this paranoia that the world is running out of oil, sub-Hitler psychos would take over and forces us all to march in rank and file. F**k it, If it's gonna happen it's gonna happen , if it's not , it's not. I wrote this as a "sequal" To Ghost Town by The Specials. Why Must The Youth Fight Against Themselves- Government Turning The Youth On Themselves.
Vocals on four tracks in the wonderful would of Dom's vaudeville.... Keyboards, Bass, Guitar, Programming and Additional Vocals by Andy. Oddly Remniscent of The Buggles too.....
