Bath gets off to a delectable start indeed, I like it already. It's confident and has a curious strength to it, which assails you with a plethora of sounds of all sorts. By some magic they make a track which has a sturdy structure despite being unusual, and strange melodies to boot! The diversity within the track is excellent and is always commanding your interest in it. Bath continues to barrage you with noises and rhythms that seem perfectly acceptable, though somehow you think it shouldn't be. Strange!-) The ending is refreshingly different again with that wonderful diversity of attitude to creating music.
Where Do I Start begins well enough, lots of things to take in, familiar and unfamiliar sounds eventually start to congeal into a more structured track. These are many layered unusual cakes to taste with my earbuds. Guitar licks rock you away down this musical rapids, with wavering synths and voice samples to guide you. Percussion takes the forefront for a while, then guitar returns with synth as if offset. Face-to-face fusion, which seems to find a compromise, a co-existence. The end is just dreamy.
Tub emerges slowly and develops into another route through the radioactive dreams. Guitar is back, which echoes from the previous track but is more evident. The synthetic noises tending to come and go, continually presenting your auditory channels with sound upon sound upon sound... It is quite demanding in its delectable manner, but not in a disturbing way, so perhaps a bit overwhelming for some listeners sensibilities. This is very busy, active soundsculpting, I think I need more ears to really appreciate it. The guitar brought me out of reverie, just in time for the end!-)
Soap is very 'soapy' to start, then percussion comes in and a whiplash synth and echo. Sounds like it was recorded in a storm drain, nice feel to it. Then haunting voice sounds make themselves heard and continue to develop through. Some manic synth work and then you realise you're in deep, this is an ace of a track. The synthetic variations in the second half are wonderful, I love them. And, with a nice, clean ending.
Shower spurts sound, intermittently at first but then settling into a chilling atmosphere. Percussion is added and a flourish of dark synth, then it becomes a dark presence of bass. The beat comes in, classic buildup, but done so nicely. The track the talks to you in many tongues of noise. A nice mid-paced rhythm to this track, I think. It's just overflowing, a cornucopia of sound with a certain dubness.
Then, there was Foam. Nice start and it turns into a dream of a track, full of appropriate, evocative noises that vary in so many ways. This has got to be some of the best experimental dub noise I have ever heard, the electronic off-the-cuff wizardry is an undoubted success as far as I'm concerned. Literally an absolute dream, I can see that just one listen isn't enough, on that point I will definitely agree. I'll be back!-) Thanks.
