This album has a nice, light, MIDI synth feel to it. It reminds me of the soundtrack to a late-90's adventure game. Most of the songs have a fun, almost goofy mood. Given the cover art, I was expecting something a bit more intense.
The compositions themselves are reasonably good, but the quality of the synth leaves me wanting. It's not a rich enough sound to be truly satisfying, but it also doesn't give me the nostalgic kick that old school electro and 8-bit music gives me. It lands somewhere in between.
The tracks also have a very even sound to them. They all seem to have the same timing, and they all share a pretty common pool of samples. There's very little surprise. It just kinda meanders along. Not exactly a "page turner" so to speak.
Overall, I can't say I'm likely to spend a lot of time with this album. I want to like it, but it just doesn't quite have what it takes to really hook me.
