LET'S GO FOR A RIDE was the second and final release of completely original material from live electronica act Misfilter. The songs were written and performed in early 2005 in the New York city area. With LGFAR, Misfilter changed pace quite a bit to more accessible rock, alternative and pop arrangements as evident on the songs "Reaching Out" and the title track "Let's Take a Ride". The space epic balladry of "Will You" explores dark and moody trip-hop with a hint of goth influence while on "Mr. Garvey" vocalist Hadley Poole sings about being the naughty lolita of an older man. The EP ends on an energetic driving note with "Take It All Back" which paid homage to the popular electro-clash trends of the time.

Inbetween dancefloor and poprock...

Well, those easy listening tracks are enought professionals to take a look at. The female voice remains me Liesje Sadonius from Hooverphonic or Sophie Ellis Bexter (but the sound is more dancefloorlike on the fist track). Anyway, a great voice, fitting perfectly to this kind of music.

The quality is high, the compositions brilliants. For me, the electro drums are to much "before the scene" or presents (don't know if it's right, my f***ing english is so basic) on the second track.

The ambiances are differents from one track to another.
There's a real effort in the composition of "Reaching out" or Mister Garvey (what a sexy voice on these track !!!).

The fact is that I didn't have enought... Please post more of your excellent production. (LOL)

Des morceaux très professionnels qui valent une écoute attentive.
Surtout, ne pas se laisser tromper par le côté dancefloor des compositions, l'ensemble est varié, complexe.

La voix féminine est particulièrement intéressante, dans la lignée d'une Liesje Sadonius d'Hooverphonic ou de Sophie Ellis Bexter. Bon, les percussions électroniques sont parfois un peu trop en avant (deuxième morceau), mais dans l'ensemble, les compositions sont solides, avec des ambiances différentes d'un morceau à l'autre, des trouvailles heureuses. Le mixage est parfait, les effets stéréos parfaitement à propos... On est très proche de productions qui passent à la radio.

Mon seul regret : c'est trop court pour voir si le groupe pourrait tenir la distance de tout un album....
