Pompey is a young man making noisy, polyrhythmic pop and sounds,
linked in ways to environmental sounds, primitive music, chamber pop,
'studio'- as-instrument, etc. He has lived in Melbourne, Australia all his life,
and has slowly built a home studio of mostly antiqued and semifunctioning
equipment running into a computer.
He has two releases ‘under his belt’, both on Pocketclock, ‘Pompey by the
ring of rocks’ (2005), a single 18 minute track made for listening to while
cooking a meal or driving home, and ‘Pompey vs Vesuvius’ (2005), ostensibly
an EP (though it runs 40 minutes) culled or reshaped from a bigger,
more ridiculous idea for a record made over a period of about one and a
half years.
Pompey also has an awkward production hand and has helped out on
records by the likes of local groups Lakes, Oh! Belgium, Talkshow Boy,
Drama for Yamaha & Young Love.
