Alphacore - Ghost Dial

...into and through levels of consciousness and existence of the artiste/protagonist. Sounds like these are sometimes the way i feel (yes, it's one of THOSE days :-() i once had an interest in semiotics for my PhD, but was advised to avoid them, my thesis proposed was a re-evaluation of communication models and a adaptation that could ultimately be converted into technology as 'interpreter' without losing the unavoidable bridge of subjectivity. Simply put, you'll either appreciate this experiment in musical communication, or you won't, but don't worry, one day you might!-)
p.s. artwork is spot on!0)

Second

Right from the start, and perhaps not unsurprisingly, Second starts strong and solid as First did. The sounds they produce and combination of those sounds with those rhythms just appeals so easily to the ear, well, at least my ears anyway. Some nice, subtle little variations in some of the tracks work well. Two heads, one body, twin stereo input, can't be bad!-) I might not agree, as such, but I really liked Zero Smoke and not freezing. I'm not sure if I get the 'lego' reference (j'ne parlez, pardonnez moi) but I personally find, what might be a criticism of repetitiveness, I see more as what minimalism is all about. Simplicity?

It surprised me how much I liked the tracks on this EP. Nice touches and variations, interesting, and with tasty bass to boot! Especially liked 2nd and 3rd tracks but all of them had something to offer and it wasn't just more of the same. Thanks. :-)

EcouterEcouter

These two tracks are wicked and we out here need some more, loved the bass on the first track. :-)

EcouterEcouter

wasn't sure how i was going to get on with this, but i managed to play it loud and it carries very well. The neighbourhood wasn't so keen but they are my ears and i will do with them what i like!-)
Good album, thanks.

Wasn't sure how electronic music was going to be organic without relying on birdsong and babbling brooks, but Cuticle seem to pull it off, albeit at a cellular level. Quite pleasant listening!-)

This is perfectly sound electronica, like it says in the first track, I like it. However, time's not on my side so please don't leave it too long before you come up with more please? Liked the cover too, matches the mood, although I suspect mythopoetica might be a bit obscure for some? All in all, nice tracks, thanks!-)

Wonderful electronica, nice long tracks. It's like a musical hamper with every favourite delicacy in there!-) I will try the others now!

Strong, driving decibels of electronic music pounding away, it works great. But I do like the Dark(er) Side better!-)

AX11 - Leviathan

Leviathan

28/08/08

Leviathan starts off suitably dark, the beat's strong, although almost atypically but it spreads itself nicely. And, after taking the risk of making it a long track, it just pulls it off with some voice samples and a mild change to the earlier half. Didn't quite conjure up Satan like Orbital, but a passable effort.
Second track, Lifetime, again almost a continuation of the first track, but it's not down to repetition as I first thought. I think what is continual is the force behind the music, what is AX11 all about? Are they trying to say something?
Take Addict, the third track, again an ambitious length of music, but I really like it. I know various kinds of addicts and suffer personally, in various ways (music being one of them!-), and there is a sense of experiential perspective to it. Albeit, subjectively perhaps?
Track four, Somewhat Pointless, apart from possibly describing my efforts at writing reviews (?), suddenly undermines my seeking that special something between the lines. Talent to achieve something reasonable does not, I should know, necessarily imply an agenda. What the hell! Just dance like the devil!-)
