Milena Torres Composer, poet, lyrics maker and singer. She possess about one hundred compositions registered between lyrics and poetry. She initiates in the musical poems as a participate of a “Sarau” in homage to the 10 years Paulo Leminski’s death, by invitation of the poet and singer Makely Ka and of the poet Alice Ruiz, in 1998. As singer, she creates the Macumba musical tree project, in 2003. This musical meeting that detaches the African rhythm and its transformations. Macumba in the same year in the CCBH with the show “The stage as a sacred place of Candomblé”. In the following year, it presents twice at FIT (Theatre Internacional Festival), during the events of the FIT’s Bar and in the closing party, when they invite the Primitive Cia of Black Art of Master João. In 2000, Milena produces show of her own musics in the “casa Matriz” and she makes a partnership with the musician and producer Fernando Muzzi in a musical arrangement. As composer and lyrics maker, her poetry “The sea to me” is musicada in 2004 by Gustavo Negreiros, singer of Sonorous Black band. Her more recent partnership is a samba’s lyrics with the artist Raquel Coutinho. Currently, some musics of Milena integrate the repertoire of the artists: Marcelo Veronez, Léo Richard and Sílvia Gommes. As poet, in 2005, she participates of a literary competition of the Municipal City hall of Belo Horizonte. In 2003, she presents her first recital, called “Poetry on me, poetry for you, poetry for all”, in the CCBH, where she interprets poems of Manuel Bandeira, Paulo Leminski and Cecília Meireles. Her more recent work is the recital literary musical: “The image, the silence and the tune” presented in the multimidia room in the Culture Center of Belo Horizonte, project that “improvised” poetry, music and video/image. The literary musical has the intention to divulge a spontaneous and very feminine poetry, created and done music by Milena Torres. Milena Fernandes Torres was born in Almenara, city of the Jequitinhonha river’s valley, verge with Bahia, detail that influences her culture and her attitude. In 1989 she makes her first lyrics and music, and since the beginning she has a trend to look for the expression through the word without shame._____________________________________________A letrista, metida a poeta, compositora e intérprete conceitua o seu trabalho partindo da relação com a escrita, desde o extinto diário, exercita e evolui a composição letra e música. Transformar o que sente, desconfia, observa e vive em verso, é válvula de escape e uma exposição sincera através da poesia que se tornou prazer, trabalho e escolha. Desde então defende o seu trabalho autoral, encarou os bares aos dezessete anos, pulava pedidos que não sabia ou não gostava e tocava suas músicas sem fazer alarde. E nesse caminho autoral não despreza as músicas que marcou adolescência, tem referências que vão de Angela Maria a Led Zeppelin, após o início dos estudos de técnica vocal com o cantor e professor Anthonio que define a voz da artista típica de onde veio, do sertão do vale do jequitinhonha/minas gerais. Daí se sentiu a vontade e realiza desejos, fez uma releitura de Cálice (Chico B. e G.Gil), O Quereres (Caetano V.) e outras que desenvolve. Durante seis anos desenvolveu o projeto Árvore Musical Macumba que saudava os ritmos e a poesia em contextos musicais urbanos e de origem afro-brasileiros. O novo projeto da artista é Solo e bem Acompanhado que pretende revisitar o repertório produzido durantes esses anos. A idéia é explorar as possibilidades de parceria de palco e arranjos, atingir mais ouvintes curiosos e como compositora divulga o seu trabalho pelas interpretações até agora de Marcelo Veronez com Vai passar o amor, Xangô e Oxóssi, Léo Richard com Céu de Crioula, Black Sonora com a versão musical para a letra O mar pra mim, que integrou uma exposição no Museu Histórico Abílio Barreto em Belo Horizonte em dois mil e oito. Milena segue carreira de modo independente, mantém um blog de poesia no wordpress e divulga suas músicas em páginas na internet como a Trama, myspace e Reverbnation. Todo rio que segue, é que em algum lugar ele deságua.
