C.J.ROGERS - Voyage

C.J.ROGERS

Voyage

14/08/11

This material is a nice collection of compositions very reminiscent of many synthesizer pioneers of the late 1970's to the mid 1980's but with a slightly 'modern feel'. I'm reminded of Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Anthony Philips and Brian Eno in particular. I don't know if CJ Rogers is paying deliberate tribute to these classic artists, but the style here reminds me a lot of these sounds and compositions, in mood and tone.

Some of this album seems at first listen to be lacking in complexity, but after paying closer attention, it's all there, in a subtle way. I look forward to listening the rest of CJ Rogers offerings in the coming days ... so far very relaxing rewarding material, and a very solid sense of composition and instrumentation.

I've said it before, it bears repeating ... Williamson is music like no one else's! I still cannot think of a single category that fits, and that is part of the beauty. Why the need for categories anyway?

I likened an earlier album 'A few things to hear before we all blow up' to a 'sequence of 'tonal poems' which not while 'building' ON each other, don't exist entirely independent OF each other' and this work seems to build in much the same way. Music itself only rarely fascinates me the way Williamson does, and while it can be 'productive background music' as I and others have mentioned, it is amazingly rewarding when one gives it undivided attention. Somehow, Williamson crafts music which is immediately personal and deeply stirring, without uttering a single word, but speaking a universal language. It's a language deeply intelligent, inspiring creative thoughts and actions in the listener. Sure there are occasional words in this album, however, for me at least the music would stand on it's own without them ...

OK, I didn't make a lot of sense this time either, just listen and decide for yourself.

I can't wait to see what is next ...

Liquid Frame - Constance

A very good album in all regards, well crafted and produced. The vocals are passionate, provocative and properly seductive, matching top notch instrumentation and rhythms. This is mostly up tempo material, but not so driven or aggressive that one finds it hard to relax. It seems the perfect balance of giving you enough to listen too, without demanding so much attention that relaxation is a burden. Wonderful stuff for this genre !

A very well crafted album! What a blend of music styles, reflecting maturity and true musicianship. Nice controversial audio sampling, evoking strong emotions about world events in a powerful selection of musical and ethnic themes. This album while more in the 'chill' or 'ambient' category is far from reflective of a single genre, either in theme or composition ... plenty of relaxing tracks, combined with more complex and demanding sounds to stir the soul ... I can't get enough while driving on the highway ... and the miles just MELT away !!!

This is just about the best material of the 'traditional' Reggae offered here, really good stuff! I want MORE from this artist ... we need a full album !

I've been listening to and playing Celtic Music for many years. In ten years of festival participation and a St Patricks Day parade or two under my belt, I've got to say I'm rarely impressed by a band's first efforts. Xera have nailed it. I've worked with some of the best bands out there and seen many many more live. This album is a superlative effort a fusion of very traditional sounds and non traditional, somewhat reminiscent of AfroCelt Soundsystem.

Xera perfectly blend traditional Asturian music with electronica. If you listen to this and your feet aren't moving around the floor, check your pulse - you are already DEAD!

This music borders on the profound, truly! The progressions from traditional to modern flow very naturally and never sound forced. A perfect marriage of all the passion of the Celts we are all used to, and those from the North of Spain which few of us even know existed.

To anyone who loves Celtic or Bluegrass music, put this one on and ROCK your neighbors!

I don't know how, but Mindthings keep growing. The musical journey which I began with "Lifepath" continues with "Above Everything". This is excellent music, evoking deep stirring emotions, while leaving one relaxed at the same time. Genre? What genre, who cares really, just play it and see for yourself.

A truly stunning album, takes me on an emotional journey. I notice a progression of style and ability starting with this album moving through the rest of the artist's works. I'm really not sure what category this music 'fits in' maybe Chill. It kind of reminds me of Moby at times, and having visited the website I can see why. Whatever it is, get it, and enjoy!

Williamson is music like no one else's! The ONLY music which comes close to this would be Global Communication's rework of Chapterhouse Blood Music: "Pentamorous Metamorphosis". I completely forget myself while listening, and I agree with another reviewer, who found themselves forgetting they were listening to music!

Williamson takes your mind elsewhere while listening, whether doing something else (such as computing) at the time or not. I often put my player in 'repeat mode' and the hours just 'go somewhere' while listening!

I couldn't tell anyone how to classify this material, other than awesome! It seems to defy classification. While there is 'structure' it is not in a 'progressive' or 'themed' sense. The music seems to be more like a sequence of 'tonal poems' which not while 'building' ON each other, don't exist entirely independent OF each other. Am I making any sense? No, I didn't think so either.

Just do yourself a HUGE FAVOR, download this! Listen to it while doing something which demands your attention and monitor your 'progress'. You will get more done than you can imagine, and wonder to yourself where the last 4 hours just went! You will find your mind mysteriously 'cleansed' and you will be 'refreshed' as though you had relaxed for the first time in a very LONG time!

I can't recommend this music highly enough!
