J'aime bocu. C'est comme Portishead, mais ne pas avec le melancolique misiere!! Very relaxing et tranquille. :)
Only on the second song so far but I am VERY VERY VERY impressed. There's a lot going on all at once, so it is hard to get bored. There's always something more to get lost in. Very well produced and original and unique? Looking forward to the rest of the album.
:)
I am only on the first three songs of this album but right now I JUST LOVE IT. Its like Bassic vs ABBA a little bit, but with a more acoustic and symphonic feel. The first song reminds me of the music in the film The Labrynth when they're dancing a masquerade ball in a space bubble. If i wasnt so hungover today, this music would want to make me express myself through modern ballet. As it happens, I am much too dead for that today, so instead it makes me want to lie back and watch aurora bourealis and curl up in a ball of intro- and outrospective. It's melodic and ambient and pensive and thoughtful and well produced and calming and sensual. What fantastic music. Well done, 10/10 x
I liked this album immediately. I don't usually listen to rock, but this has a fantastic melodic and passionate vibe. I would really like to listen to it several times. G*
It took me 10 seconds to break out into a hot sweat. Wow. This music ROCKS. It makes me want to behave really badly and dance like a fool and crush dubious tablets and snort them up my nose. YEAH. Wow, now the back of my neck is tingling. This usually happens only with coloratura sopranos, you must be doing soemthing right. Very right! Yeah. YEAH! Well done!!! WOO HOO BRING ON THE PARTY. I wasn't going to go out 2nite but this music has forced me to. Man, you just made my day.
I just needed to write again and tell you that you ROCK and give you a 10/10. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW YEAH! I AM SOOO IMPRESSED! How do you do it???
This album makes me wanna... fill in the blanks. Oh yeah! Well done. :) Fornightclubbers is especially cool.
I really enjoyed this album. I wish I was in Amsterdam or London instead of Sthlm becuause it would be best enjoyed with a fat one. I like how dark the music is and how long the album is! I found the vocal effects maybe a bit repetitive but otherwise a great post modern album and I look forward to my own ascention into offwhite. :)
I really like this album. Eze chamud! Ani medaber only ketzat yvritt, so I shall write in English. I dont think it's the best music for sex (it would need more bass for that and need to get faster and slower and build up a bit more) but it's a very very cool abum, especially when you sing in Hebrew, it's quite unusual to hear in Northern Europe and I think... hold on, OOOH WOW YOU JUST SURPRISED ME WITH A KEYCHANGE. I like keychanges! Yes. A cool abum, a little retro and could do with being a little darker if you dont mind me saying so, but I would definiteley listen to this one again. And be inteerested to hear your next work! Well done mr! :)
Wow. Wow wow wow. I just love this EP. Hurry up over to Stockholm so I can shake it to this fantastic groove. YES! YOU ROCK! YEAH!! :) Regards from Giles of the Turkish Delight the Opera team.
Please feel free to visit our Myspace page, www.myspace.com/turkishdelighttheopera where you will find more information about the show (and it's future plans, including another London run in August 2008) also feel free to download the sound recordings (free for a limited time only!) and tell your friends!! :) There is much more detailed information on the myspace page.
Giles' musical influences include Mado Robin, Yma Sumac, Benny Andersson, Abba, Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Bassic, Judy Kuhn, Chess the musical, Björk, Andrew Lloyd Webber, etc.
Katy's musical influences include Muse, Tori Amos, Evanescence, Jason Robert Brown, and Stephen Schwartz.
Giles and katy's musical tastes vary wildly depending on the time of day. Giles is currently very excited by drum&bass and psytrance, but usually listens to musicals and coloratura sopranos! Katy is discovering ambient trance, but usually listens to melodic rock music and singer-songwriters.
Aside from working with the elderly in Stockholm, Giles is currently working on a new show about Lady Jane Grey.
Katy is continuing work on her solo album of singer-songwriter material, and also working with composer Phil Gable on his new musical 'Adore'. Both Katy, an accomplished vocalist who trained at LSMT, and Giles, who is mainly self-taught, performed selections from Turkish Delight the Opera and also some new work as part of the Stockholm gay pride festivities. They are both working very hard at organising the nxt London production - the biggest and best yet!! They are both shamelessly opportunistic when it comes to Turkish Delight, especially Giles, and if you are interested in re-mixing, performing, or producing the show or work from the show, you are urged to get in touch!!
Katy can be found gigging her solo material around London, and Giles can be currently seen on international Chinese television but he wont tell you where as he's a bit embarassed about the strange editing of his interview!
Natasha Day who played Betsy Cohen is continuing her studies at the Royal College of Music, Sophie Juge who played the British Woman in the show is studying for her piano ABRSM and continues to teach singing. Daniel Lawrence who played Ohad Cohen (the Turk) is continuing his studies in London, and Gareth Bretherton who played the British Man is currently in Bocum, Germany, in the show Starlight Express. The next production of Turkish Dleight the new rock-opera will be starring Magoria Edler.
