Cool voice samples pull the track through a hedge into a field of electronic grass, it is in a sense Perfect, as it runs around waving it's musical arms. Meet starts with drums and percussion and trumpets its way into my attention. I like the layers of sound that accompany the tone of the track. It has a good pace and maintains interest very well, although its variations are maybe a little too subtle in places. I'm impressed that Cometa have pulled off a fifteen minute track and kept me entertained for so long. Ending was a bit abrupt.
Now After Night, another track of epic proportion, but much more slowly paced than the former track. The melody is simple, supported by a subtle rumbling sound. In a sense this being declared as, amongst other things, improv/repetitive, gives me an understanding that for music to be communicated, without the inescapable infinite number of variables that effect transmission and reception, it would have to be standardised. I don't think, unless as part of a genuine scientific experiment, that would be tolerable, especially on Jamendo. However, look at the trash mainstream throw at us, there is a lot of standardisation because it makes money, regardless of the 'art' itself.
I'd rather have the art...
The track actually works for me, the wind instrument layer was just right.
The sound is plastic and neon-lighted, yet the music remains inexplicably enjoyable. It's a futuristic absurdist nightmare, taking place at nighttime Tokyo (or someplace similar). Repetition makes me feel unease and I would want to leave the room. I'm at a party and someone is breathing to my face. I have an overly sweet drink in front of me, served from an artificially colored, gaudy glass. A lonely swimming pool which reflects boozed-up colours. Such a horrible, beautiful amalgation of both disappointing and exhilarating emotions. This is what good music is always about, in one way or another.
But I have no idea if this interpretation is anywhere close to the artist's original intention...
The last song is different from the first two, dragging on without the oppressiviness that fueled the other songs. Overall it's still a good EP, not perfect but just good.
