Time Voyager by Yvalain

This album exists only because of the support I received from many friends on Jamendo and MySpace. In less than 5 months the music I put on Jamendo (3 albums before this one) was downloaded and listened to more than 10000 times and this was a source of joy to me as I thought previously that there was no audience for such a non commercial music. It helped me to keep the resolution to create a new music (even if I sometimes used old material of mine) using all the techniques I have learnt these last years: computer assistance, multi-tracks recording, many audio plug-ins, samples... as well as my new capability to create musical notation and have it played by efficient software with sounds of real instruments. I have spent some time in making barocco-like music ("The Baroc Works - Orchestral Versions", here in Jamendo). For this new album I wanted to go back to my roots: pop, folk, traditional music that I always liked, with my personal compositions  pay a modest tribute to modern masters. I hope you'll like it and share it with your friends. I wish to thank Franck, Jean-Marc and Emmanuel who gave of their time and passion for music: my music is much better thanks to them.

1. Voyager
composed by Yvalain Debodinance
Main tone is Am (starts with Dm).

Emmanuel Debodinance plays bass on "Grand Finale" with my Yamaha bass
Franck Simonneau plays solo guitars on "Grand Finale" with my Fender Stratocaster VG and then his Gibson
Yvalain plays Yamaha bass, Lewinson Blade electric guitar, Takamine electro-acoustic folk guitar, Takamine electro-acoustic classical guitar and wrote music notation for pianos, flutes, synths, percussions and voices.
Recorded between November 2007 and May 2008

Due to the length of that piece of music (nearly 15 mn) the author has cut 3 independent parts and made them available at the end of the album. However the full version is the only intended version and contains material not present on parts 1, 2 and 3.

I wanted to create an evocative music with a lot of acoustic guitar and various melodies and climates. Using software such as Sonar, Sound Forge and Harmony Assistant helped me a lot to achieve this piece of music. The challenge was to have a true united music even though it is made of different parts, different tones and rythms. I hope visitors will take time to listen it with attention and enjoy the melodies, arrangements, and the progression of the music until the end of the Grand Finale. I wish to thank Emmanuel and Franck for having created such beautiful parts in my music.

2. French Love
composed by Yvalain Debodinance.
Tone is Bm.

Yvalain plays electro-acoustic folk and Fender Stratocaster VG electric guitar
Franck Simonneau plays Gibson electric guitar
Recorded during spring 2008

I was glad that Franck played an aerial solo in the middle of this little instrumental. For some time I've tried this music with my band (Fury Tale) and some good sounds came out with the bass and the drums. Maybe one day another version will come up. By now here is the intimate and gentle version.

3. Losing Control
composed by Yvalain Debodinance and Jean-Marc Corvisier http://www.jamendo.com/fr/artist/irrlicht
Main tone is A (starts with D6).

Jean-Marc plays AEX Yamaha electric guitar
Yvalain plays bass, electro-acoustic folk and classical guitar
Recorded between December 2006 and May 2008

For long it remained unfinished. I tried different approaches, spending a lot of energy with no good result. Thanks to Jamendo Jean-Marc and I started to exchanges ideas and music. Eventually I asked him if he could do something as I was failing to do anything consistent with this nice series of chords. I removed all the complex arrangements I made (synthesizers, harmonica, electric solos...) and sent him the base of the music (acoustic guitars, bass, and drums). To my surprise he came back with this heartful and charming melody and then there was almost nothing more to add.  I'm proud of this collaboration with Jean-Marc who literally saved this music that I though it would not appear on this album. I thank him heartfully.

4. Tou T'Chin Yu
composed by Yvalain Debodinance
Tone is F#m

Yvalain plays electro-acoustic folk and Fender Stratocaster VG electric guitar on Fender Blues Junior amp + GT-8 Boss effects.
Recorded between December 2005 and May 2008

As for "Losing Control" I was desperate to complete this piece of music which is a remake of a "Variations" one of my oldest music ever, composed when I was 17. Later on I had added new parts somewhere in the middle, using techniques of barocco composers: I inverted all the chords used in the main theme and tried to find new melodies on this. It was an interesting challenge. For this new version I wanted to associate classical instrumentations, Chinese feeling (I'm fond of classic Chinese and Japanese classic paintings, as one can see) and acoustic and electric guitars. Maybe was it a bit too ambitious! Nevertheless I eventually managed it. I though it could be a nice end to this album.

A very pleasant album by the sensitive sounds. Very relaxing .. at times solemn as the grandeur of the sky ... other times intimate and melancholy ... but always gently intense. Very nice four voyager with sounds always different and very expressive electric and acoustic guitar. Equally nice the other three songs that I listened with great pleasure.
