Sunlight is made up of a full spectrum of colors. As it reflects off an object, certain shades of light are absorbed and others are reflected. These reflected colors form the images that reach our eyes. Unfiltererd White Light contains every image you have seen and will ever see.

The Static you hear from a dead radio contains a full spectrum of sound all at equal volumes. It is said that within that invisible unfiltered noise, hidden in plain site, is every piece of music that will be, and ever has been written.

By the time Alex Dray and Eddy Silva had founded WhiteRoom, they had spent much of their lives trying to absorb as much human static as the body can take before going crazy. Dangerously close to the breaking point, it was clear that the only stress relief was to decipher, filter and sculpt their own version of the Great Universal Static. The result is an absorbing new musical gestalt: a twisted and unconscious homage to paying attention and letting go.

WhiteRoom easily establishes a firm foundation of Introspective Indie Rock while drifting fluidly between latin jazz, urban beats, haunting trip-hop and romantic cinema sound-scapes.

In a rare show of creative unification, the group draws on everything and anything within reach, breathing musical life into laptop screens and synthesizers as easily as into acoustic guitars and upright pianos. With a firm grasp of classic song-writing at its base, each song is infused with a quiet sense of dream-like storytelling.

Right now: WhiteRoom finds itself emerging as a clear voice to the guerilla DIY rise of next-generation composers. With their roots anchored healthily in the nurturing Montreal music scene, they are ready to branch out all over the networks of the world.

One of the best album I discovered in Jamendo.

The sound is great, very original. And the voice is so sweet!

I liked the mix between english french and spanish in the songs.

Very very good job guys!

This album is unlike anything I've listened to recently. The complex electronic arrangements make this music seem totally current and intelligent. But it's still approachable and fun to listen to.

The singer has a great voice and the melodies are beautiful.

There's also a lot of substance. I think I will continue to listen to this album for a long time.

I have no words to describe this album. Oddly enough, I have seen many records on jamendo described as "Prog rock" by their authors without being even partially progressive, while I would more than happily put this tag here, for what it implies... Wonderful, Creative, Beautiful, Arty... music doesn't gets much better than this.

There is such a palette of musical colors here is outstanding. You have the Beatlesque affair "Barcelona", the King Crimson-like "At Odds", the Radiohead's "Ordinary Day"... there is an art rock wonderful style plaguing all the album not unlike Radiohead's last disks, and a jazz rock sensibility (like Karate or King Crimson) that just took my breath when I listened to the album, and some latin/bossa feel in some songs (that I don't like too much), folk, ambient, postrock... Even though, the sound is extremely creative and original, merging all these influences and surely many others and adding a personal touch I love. The experimentation in sounds, effects and samples is highly rewarding, and the instruments surprises (like the eastern-styled violin of "Ender" -which incidentally brings to my mind "Lark's Tongues in Aspic", or the brass section in some songs) are just a delightful encounter.

The music gets drown a little bit in songs like "Barrio Chino", that remembers me more of Manu Chao and the such... definitely not my kind of music, and IMHO, these musicians can give much MUCH more, although the flute solo returns me to the good mood of the album, the good jazz-indie-art-whatever-rock :D.

Except for the latin/bossa feel, maybe one of the VERY best records I have listened since Radiohead's "Kid A", and if that's not a recommendation, I don't know what is. The recording quality it superb and the playing and effect application is flawless. There is too much in this disk to absorv just with a few listens, it requires more.

I'm not usually much into vocal records, as I prefer instrumental works by far, but here the voices are just so charming and nicely sung... just how I like singing, sweet but strong at the same time. I have been very surprised by this album, a strange discovery in a world full of commercial, banal or mediocre music.

Instant fan.

Continuez !

Beautifully played and sung with interesting harmony. Well-arranged with wide use of different instruments. Many good ideas(not only musical). Though sometimes this band could be mistaken for Radiohead or Coldplay, I must say that I prefer these guys.

White Room members, please check up your passports now ¿Are you shure you're not british? Cause you have songs that make you feel like walking through the London fog. But listeners, make no mistake, these kids have the talent to take all their influences to the next level. You must listen to this album. By far one of the greatest albums I've had the chance to listen here in Jamendo.
