Live at Wood Hall is an exciting journey through Allison Crowe's concert repertoire, recorded solo voice and piano - with a simple clarity in the converted chapel of Victoria (B.C.)'s Conservatory of Music.

Alongside more than an album's worth of original songs of love and hope to social and political commentary, Allison covers cherished favourites - including Ani DiFranco ("Independence Day"), Counting Crows ("A Murder of One"), Tori Amos ("Playboy Mommy"), Janis Joplin ("Me and Bobby McGee"), and John Lennon ("Imagine"). Colours in the artist's musical palette range from roots & blues, through folk, pop/rock, jazz and Broadway. There's even a tradtional Irish aire, "Believe Me If All (Those Endearing Young Charms)", sung acapella.

Once again, Larry Anschell (Turtle Studios) captures the music on tape and Alix Whitmire designs the beautiful artwork/CD cover. " 'Music, man, that's where it's at'/ it is a religious line/ outside, the chimes rung/ an they/ are still ringin."

Melodia e semplicità. Un universo tutto da scoprire

Un live pieno d'emozioni. La splendida voce di Allison Crowe, un pianoforte a coda e il vuoto tutto intorno. Basta questo per creare uno degli album acustici più belli che abbia sentito su Jamendo.

Tutti gli album di Allison sono splendidamente melodici, i testi molto dolci e particolari, la sua voce unica in quei passaggi dal mormorio all'urlo, ma questo live racchiude tutto quello che avevo già sentito in una cornice nuova e unica.

Un live prodotto benissimo, che riporta in se tutta l'atmosfera che una cappella della British Columbia può racchiudere in se.

Sicuramente questo album è il miglior approccio verso questa incredibile artista canadese.

Tra le interpretazioni registrate in questo live mi hanno particolarmente colpito Immersed, Sea of Faces e Running.

Un album da ascoltare in pace, più di una volta, per apprezzare tutte le sfumature della voce e la meravigliosa semplicità degli accordi.

This live record is full of emotions. Allison Crowe's wonderful voice, a piano and emptiness all around. This is more than enough to obtain one of the most beautiful acoustic record I found on Jamendo.

All of Allison's records are splendidly melodic, simple and singular lyrics, her unique voice during those switches between whispering and shouting, but this live session has it all in a different and very particular form.

A very well produced live record, which includes all the atmospheres a British Columbia chapel might have.

This record is without doubts the best starting point to discover this incredible Canadian artist.

Among all the recordings, Immersed, Sea of Faces and Running are my best.

An album to be listen to with calm and peace, more than once, to catch all the voice particularities and the simple melody of the piano chords.

As expected, this is another great album, I love the passionate, strong voice. On this recording the voice alone is able to complement the piano completely.

this album is a fusion of love and armony. the tone are sometimes smooth sometimes strong in a mystical fusion.
One of the best album here in jamendo.
This is a must for someone who like jazz.
