Welcome to my latest and greatest album!

My normal way of making an album is a cycle of writing a song, recording a demo for the song right away, releasing it as an MP3 on my site, then polishing them and assembling them together into a CD when I have enough songs - and I often felt married to the original arrangements, whether they were good or bad. I decided to try a different approach this time. For the most part, these songs were written in isolation, with only rough demos made. I then went through and recorded them all in one fell swoop.

The idea was to give the songs room to breathe before commiting myself to a sound, and I think it worked. "Ashes" has a depth to it that feels missing in my other releases. Stepping back and being able to look at it as a whole before really starting the recording process let me give it more of a cohesive sound. There's a lot more piano on these songs than I usually use, which was fun.

The title wraps up the recurring themes of the cycle of life, mortality and the possibly dubious role that religion can play in the whole thing. It wasn't really designed as a concept album, but in a way it fell together that way so I went with it. The cover artwork pulled everything together, entitled "Перерождение чёрного мотылька" courtesy of the talented Luana Silense.

Josh Woodward è un vero genio della musica,produce tanto in breve tempo e di ottima qualità,merita tanta fama che tarda ad arrivare purtroppo.

Mi sono divertito molto ad ascoltare questo disco, i brani sono tutti gradevoli e scorrono piacevolmente durante tutto l'ascolto. In particolare mi sono piaciute alcune variazioni e arrangiamenti più aggressivi rispetto ad altri lavori.
Ascoltare Josh è sempre un piacere :-)

Fantastico, mi ha coinvolto dal primo ascolto... difficile trovare ormai un disco che ti piaccia dall'inizio alla fine. Consigliato agli amanti di Sufjan Stevens.

Well well well. Another JW. It became like a TV Show, "let's see what happen this time to our hero".
So. "Cherubs" was somehow ruined with the "I want to screeeeam" part, but good 'nuff. "Pompeii" it's unusefull, and well, part of it (the real Romanic site I mean) had crumbled recently, so for an Italian listener get another meaning ("don't talk of rope in the house of hanged ones". ...Just kidding). Thousand Skins is good, Part1 made me cry. Other tracks crumbled down with Domus Gladiatori at Pompeii.
This time Bad Guys won after been beated by "Crawford Street" (with "Breadcrumbs", best episodes of the show). But war is not ended, I' m sure the Hero will strike back. (I can say the cover art is the best by now.)

Davvero un bell'album

Avevo atteso a lungo questo album.
Credo che, alla fine, ne sia valsa la pena. La voce, l'atmosfera, la musica, tutto è di ottimo livello. I testi, mai banali, raccontano storie, disegnano immagini nella mente, comunicano emozioni.
Un ottimo album, anche se forse dall'ascolto meno immediato rispetto ai precedenti lavori di Josh Woodward. Segno di maggior ricerca, credo.
Consigliato.
