Metal Detector are a heavy metal band, born during Summer 2006. Tyrael (guitarist), Herr Faust (aka Sir Gobelin - bass player) and Mike Vader (drummer) played together with another band, which splitted up some weeks before the entry of Black Wolf (veteran singer); Cesare “Stud” De Troìa (guitarist) completed the line-up.
The five-piece begun playing classic Heavy Metal covers (Judas Priest, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden etc.) and songs of their own production; the first one was “Metal Detector”, a true metal anthem with a terrific refrain, which shortly became the trade mark of the band, and it is still loudly sung by the audience at the end of every concert. The sound of the band shortly developed in a HEAVY POWER CLASSIC METAL, with a little bit of SPEED, PROG and THRASH to give more originality to their music.
After several live performances, the band recorded “WEST OF HEAVEN” MINI-CD, released on Autumn 2007; the platter was recorded and mastered by Fabio Palombi (Nerve, Ritual Of Rebirth) at MelaZeta studio in Genoa during Summer. The disk included 3 tracks by Metal Detector: “The Fall Of Troy”, “West Of Heaven” and “Metal Detector”.
In order to promote the mini-cd the band took part in many shows and competitions; the most important ones are:
INFERNO CANTO II, where Metal Detector gained the third place on more than a hundred bands participating, and they were the first Heavy Metal band of the whole competition;
MUSIC MANIAC CHALLENGE, where Metal Detector gained the third place again and had the chance to perform at Genoa Palasport (an historic location where well-known hard rock and heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden, Kiss, Europe and Deep Purple played during the years) along with many other local bands for charity; a full container of food was sent to needful people thanks to this happening (promoted by Music For Peace).
During 2010 the band focused on the arrangements of their first full length, which was recorded on 2011 again at MelaZeta by Fabio Palombi and mastered at Nadir Music by Tommy Talamanca. Due to some problems during the recording period, in particular Cesare which left the band after finishing recording his guitar tracks, the releasing of the platter had a huge delay.
At the end of 2011 the band proudly announce that their debut album “Metal Demon” will be available for free download on Jamendo platform and that the CD will be on stores within January 2012.
