OPEN MUSIC WIRE - Blog Post
by: Josh East
One of the perks working in the evolving music industry is that you sometimes discover artists that you otherwise may not have stumbled across in this competitive world of indie music and all of its growing online destinies. Take Rachel Brown for example, an Urban/Rhythmic artist with Adult Contemporary crossover appeal, who’s first single "Let's Fall in Love Again" reached #1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles Sales Charts and #68 in the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs Charts back in 2007 under the release “Love, Life & Relationships”. This record also contains a few more radio-friendly songs like “Spend The Night” and “Learn To Love Me” that flows well with the rest of the tracks; and then of course, a buried b-side track just to mess with me. Though these potential singles would be great tracks for airplay consideration, this b-sider titled “Just A Girl” stood out from the rest, where Rachel has married neo-soul and smooth jazz to give birth to an eclectic sound ready to be heard. In my opinion, Rachel has Souled-Out on this project ... in the sense that she delivers many degrees of her soulfulness. Enjoy!
