Sifar
Zero. The perfect circle. A cipher
Sifar is a Hindi Rock band from India which was formed in 2008 by Amit and Anshul - both of whom were songwriters at the time and had known each other from their college. Frustrated by the prevalent Indian rock sound and unable to find the right band for their songs, they decided to take the matter in their own hands and started producing songs just between the two of them on a whim. They released their first demo of a couple of songs online towards the end of 2008, and instantly started building a following. Encouraged by the response, they decided to focus more on improving their production quality. Amit left his job as a marketer to learn music production as Anshul focused on writing more songs. They keep recording and releasing demos of their songs online on a regular basis which has resulted in over 15000 song downloads so far.
Sifar has a modern international rock sound unlike most other Hindi rock bands which focus on either folk or fusion. This is probably a result of the band's strong but unconventional songwriting – to be able to write modern rock songs with conviction in Hindi. Currently, Sifar are probably working on their next song.
