“Mad Mush” rhymes with “George Bush”, for reasons unknown.
Mad Mush is a London based rock’n'roll operation. Gigging since 2006 with various line-ups, mostly in London, two trips abroad. 12 unreleased recordings ready to go, and another 20 on the mixing desk. Currently recording live drums for some new releases. We’re a three or four piece, based in south London and Nottingham.
Mad Mush are essentially punk rockers, but in a Clash sense as opposed to screamo / oi. Mad Mush has the spirituality that The Clash lacked, the punk rock that U2 lacked, a level of intimacy very rare nowadays, and a bunch of songs that would have made it onto London Calling and Joshua Tree. An appropriate category might be “modern indie” (Fratellis / Killers / Strokes / Franz Ferdinand / Kaiser Chiefs ) steeped in early punk rock, Ramones, Buzzcocks, The Boys, with Smashing Pumpkins strewn on top. If you’re into 90′s punk bands like Green Day and Vandals, you’ll also like a lot of Mad Mush stuff.
