Ehi, dudes, "top of the world" there, just a few miles south of Santa Klaus Mansion? You're kidding!I really thought the top of the world was in Rome, around Capitol hill. So, if you want to savor the tastes from the Caput mundi,go to Rome and sit in a tavern.Wait wait...I've got a call on the other line - the other tab - from a friend in Brisbane, "down under" Australia and he's saying the top of the world is just there.Crazy!
About the music that before me others have reviewed better than I can now do, it's very entertaining and full of remembrances of financially sound previous bands but is by no means advanced music what you've done here: this doesn't push the musical edge ahead. It cannot be done with the instruments pop offers to musicians. To accomplish that you should change genre, by renouncing to the mainstreams, genres and publics we already know.
Anyway,do you think that listening to something that I'll call "Winter Music" from Sweden in a bitter Italian Winter brief afternoo, under the breeze of a 40 inch fan, set in motion for the benefit of USB Internet Key and "pc" itself, is easy?
What I enjoyed the most was that "personal touch"; the way Maya Filipic touches the piano is easily recognizable within and without the frame of a Jamendo web page. It's a cold and foggy afternoon, XMas is still far, so I'm not indulging in sentimentality if I listen to this. But, come next Spring, shall one night full of scents I call this album from the chart and sit down to listen to it till its end, wouldn't I feel again the joys and the delusions and the fulfillments of Christmases past and for some hours after wait for a carved in blood Moment that yet shot past me?
Too bad that this work by Maya Filipic on the Eve will be lost in the crowd of similar recordings running on every kind of media in the next two weeks but as livelier will it sound in the late afternoon of December, the 25th, when the music will be changed!
The cover is , put it simply, lovable.I don't know if Miss Filipic was behind the camera or if she found the thumnail on the Net; whosoever shot that photo had a bright idea and a good grip on filters.
"Or call it winter, which, being full of care,
Makes summer's welcome thrice more wish'd, more rare" William Shakespeare ou, comme ils veulent nous faire croire aujourd'hui, Guglielmo Crollalanza, émigré sicilien du XVI Siècle.
"Let's Dance" shows an attempt to raise the listener's emotions, better succesful in the next track. The remaining tracks do not earn the right to be reviewed; the whole album would be turned down by any records producer secretary assistant's assistant in his right mind, the technical means available to the children are scarce and the band gives no guarantee to last for years to come but you know what?I don't care: the T.H.E.Appletree are of a disarming freshness that seldom young amateurs in jeopardy express.
Nobody knows if Patrick, Max,Luke, Saul and Madschen will be interested in rock ten years from now, least of all themselves; nor if they'll have the guts and the will to work and study and refine themselves hard and stick together in the meantime. The caterpillar has yet to grow into a full-fledged butterfly. Should this happen, we'll be always here,if only to record progresses.
Cool: look at the shadows that railing casts on the catwalks.Fine-tuned setting of a shot: unsettling, even relaxing as stopping-stepping for a minute out of the world can be and more up to date than Munch's "Shout".In the thumb version of this cover I saw a drive bending at night ( very hitchcockian) and not a cat-walk.Some of the best shortest ghost stories written in many languages are set in corners like this.Clearly, Madawa did not listen to what I suggested in my previous review about diversifying his repertoire. In this cover I'd want to see Peta Wilson as "la femme Nikita", but he insists on placing under our noses
saints David Hasselhoff and Edward Mulhare.
I would suggest not to pay other tributes beyond those which are due ( to the State and to the Church, that's for sure ), because those given to figures and for reasons far less deserving than the above mentioned are a waste of time and spirit. So I am always wary of those albums or those concerts advertised as a "tribute" to artists no longer active or even passed away because I know that attending the same concerts would be as stupid as to play Lotto.
Listening to these three tracks by MischAPEX is refreshing and distracting like a short stroll along a lively waterfront, nothing more nothing less: that's what you get from this EP for free.
Refreshing and distracting but what has Malcolm McLaren got to do with it?It's a pity the work end in echoes from his "Fans".
