Finally a band who understand what I've been looking for every time I've browsed the "progressive" section. Very enjoyable indeed.
My one negative comment is that in (a few, very small) places, it reminded me a little too much of other songs.
Overall though, great work.
Where do I begin to write a review of Head's masterpiece "The Finish Sunset" ?
Maybe first I should warn anyone reading this that I'm somewhat biased, being someone who has loved Hezad's music for a relatively long time, but then again, this is only because it's so great.
Immediately immersive, the work draws you into a delicate web of sounds and emotions, evoked sensitively, subtly, and with a truth which makes the experience very personal.
Bah, my words are simply too clumsy, just listen to this album-- I guarantee it's a better way to spend your time than whatever else you were going to do.
Deep, engaging, expressive without being patronising, intellectual without being pretentious. Unexpressably fantastic. Here is one of those rare pieces of music which transcends a series of sounds and takes on meaning beyond the act and situation of listening.
Here is the piece of your soul that was missing.
For a moment I forgot who and where I was as this album transported me, dancing and smiling, into the past and at once the future, to summer in the villages of Celtic lands to celebrate with the perfect essence of excitement and fascination, while a freshness and excellent contrast gave an honesty and authenticity which make the experience truly something special.
More analytically, the music is beautifully written and intelligently arranged and mixed. To call it "professional" would be an insult to the profound elegance and emotional resonance of the sound.
The combination of styles also works well, when there is stylistic change it is always subtle and refreshing and keeps the album interesting throughout.
At times in Marie Adams I felt that the violin seemed slightly out of time, or that the beat fluctuated, or some other discomfort which I couldn't quite put my finger on, but I understand that it must be very hard to play, and in fact it would be better to sound human rather than mechanical.
EDIT: actually, listening again whatever was upsetting me last time is not longer present, so my one criticism is void now ;)
Exciting to the very last second, this is definitely a must-listen album.
This album blew me away. With albums of this amazing quality being given away, I think the music industry is already obsolete.
Thrilling and entertaining throughout, I had high hopes after the first few seconds which were not disappointed.
This fantastic album had me jumping around my room like a crazy man, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience 13 minutes, 33 seconds of explosive yet flawless excellence.
