Are we talking voodoo here. It's not a system of belief that I know much about. Anyway, as I could be getting off on the wrong foot, I will concentrate on the music. I like it's pace and intonation from the start. Dissolved blossoms and develops into a well-balanced piece of music. I like the undercurrent, it works really well, and is quite dramatic towards the end.
Chorus Falling Down, again I like the stance it takes and even when it's falling down, it does it tunefully. Then it recovers its composure and is thundering along by the end, full throttle. Nice ending.
Morlochip fills the speakers with lovely lively synthetic noises which are shared by a somewhat mediocre drum beat, it seems to their detriment. Then things blossom again and are more balanced, integrate more successfully. With an even better ending than the last track.
The Prophet resounds scintillating as it goes, then shares the foundation with a symphonic core melody. Synths step in and hold the pace, slow but sure.
The Machine Epta, a very entertaining piece.
Hyeractic grows on you quite quickly, then leaves you stranded for a bit. Then to change tone and repeat itself. Self-assuredly.
The next track, Disatmo, kind of bangs and bumps it's way around then finds a sense of equilibrium.
Profania sounds more serious with it rhythmic structure, exacerbated by the guitar riff. Seems more profound and determined.
Your Low Step Maledicti is more upbeat and trickier to nail down. Fidgety music, I like it!
Last, but by no means least, Black Hole, which is a wonderfully minimalistic dirge.
Overall, I really liked this album, liked the style even if I missed the point. I think it was a good collaborative effort.
Nice intro.
Iki Maska is like a rhino charge, and Nina was tough from what I can remember. I liked her work because I own some, but there's only so many hours in the day and I have no turntable for vinyl working at the moment. So, it is tenuous memories, I digress, the point being I liked the track.
Interval A was stunning in a nice subtle way, very atmospheric.
Attraction, a curious interval between intervals. I think it's really good stuff, the kind of music you want to go on longer for simply because it sounds good to you.
Belledanse is oddly mesmerising. It has an almost painful grace to it.
Stoneblind emits a sort of panic amid the creaking structure, a sense of entrapment. Followed by a melancholy string or two.
Alos is all deep, resounding echoes. A strumming, rumbling growth, followed by a sense of the dramatic. A poise of a village chant in the near distance. Ending in a deep expanse of space and time, Alos is also echoing.
Prompt 2 was just what I needed.
Scripwriter reminds me of my little brother and his guitar, living near a main road, and me trying, even then, to write.
Soap Opera reminds me of trying to watch television, whilst having my little brother in the room with his guitar.
He could come up with some mad riffs!-)
Muddy Muse has that resonance almost again, there are certainly sounds resounding but it feels more like someone left the television on somewhere. Dreamy.
Dusty Dreams seems like the dry version of the dream induced state I now find myself in. Though, someone has put the radio on as well. Just another day, eh?
Quick, Smoke Break... damn, it's raining!
Southeast Waltz retains the dreamy quality of the music, though here there's a modicum of structure and form, however ghostly it may seem.
Stroke again, has a very curious air to it. Difficult to describe, for me.
Prompt 3 is like a dream I once had...
Overall, I found this very interesting music to listen to, thanks!-)
Again, that word, that saving grace of a word... 'experimental', I love it. However, reading the preamble, it seems this music was compiled over several years. A lot happens in such a time-span, so I think that has to be part of any consideration of the music thus produced and presented, as an album. Is the tracklisting chronological?
It seems to be 'big beat' electronic 'dance' music, and this is where it gets confusing sometimes. I don't know if the effect gained was some technical aberration or not, whereas someone else might say something more useful. Either way this is strictly for people who like the repetition of 'big beat trance'. It might sound comparatively dull, but it had it's day like all genres do. Having said that, it's volume one of a set and in some places I think I can see a glimmer of hope. I could be wrong, I could be right but if you are a fan of that genre, you will love it.
Talking about genres can be so tenuous, i.e. it's subjective/experiential and there are some here that I haven't been aware of. What I think is important is that it comes under the banner generally as 'electronica'. What it produces, so it seems thus far, is at times a fairly intense but tight fusion of sources, however produced and mixed.
Generally speaking, I like it. I like its' vivacity, I think it's boldness and apparent confidence comes from work well done, well thought out. I feel there are some nice touches in places at the very least, things that make me want to create something as well. What do I do? Try and be positive, if I think there's hope for the future I will be the one of those who stop by long enough to say thanks, at least.
The structure and rhythm can be very interesting in places, and seems to shake the bull by the proverbial horns in some areas of the music. Some of the endings are a bit more abrupt and unexpected than I like but there could be a million reasons for such a trifle.
I like looking for patterns in things generally, and a track like Breath puts that to the test. Then the veracity of what's being done can seem so easily obvious with Next Door, for example. An interesting fusion with something as simple as silence itself can be disproportionately effective. Good work, I think.
The first track has some very interesting rhythmic structures and an admittedly good vocal layer.
Mist has some fantastic sounds involved, very nice mix. Again with some challenging rhythms and form. I love those thundering organ sounds!
In.dub.strial is pretty unique stuff, methinks.
Track four has a lovely intensity to it and intonation. There is quite a large structure to it and nice variation.
21 Holograms has a gorgeous bassness about it and upper resonances that fill the track out nicely. It whites out near the middle but comes back more firmly, in a sense.
Track six just sounds exactly as it should.
Ritalin Mind Controllers is another excellent track, very strong and provocative.
Fade Away again, excels at being an amenable, very impressive piece of music.
Anatta takes the conventional and reworks it, with its own sense of panache. Nice touches.
Track ten balances a lovely lyrical strain in amongst a relatively mellow medley of music. The instrumentation takes grip with a bass sound near the middle and then returns to its good work.
The eleventh track is exquisite, even though the music is actually quite harsh. And there's something strange about the word 'core'. Pops up a lot. Anyway, I like this one.
Human Cry intrigues me because I couldn't anticipate it, nice moves. I also like the level of vocals, equal to the instrumentation, integral to the track (aren't we English good at stating the obvious?). Y'know what I mean, it fits in well.
Outsider, in a sense epitomises the whole album. As a concept in the mental travels of a person, it's seems poignant. As a track its potentially descriptive. Stay positive. I liked it, nicely done.
Reading about the concept and preparation and execution of the job-in-hand, I think it is a great success. That you've met with a cool reception, I understand completely that can literally hurt, especially if you have devoted at least a modicum of your emotionality. However, there are some bland interpretations of what is commonly known as 'music'. That, unfortunately for the majority is an array of something they are presented with, making it easy enough to buy it from a supermarket.
However, in a sense I feel a common denominator in the area of electronic music developing. Something catalytic in a general sense. I think the forum is ideal in a sense, how it interacts with an essentially capitalistic socio-economic structure, is another discussion for elsewhere.
At the end of the day, a brilliant collaboration of work has been achieved and to that the least I can do is take off my hat and wish you luck for the future, and any endeavours that may entail. Thanks for sharing.
You said the magic word for me 'expérimentations', and I think this demands close scrutiny in the search for the development of music. Personally, I think such a disarming quality is nice and reasonable. As far as music is concerned, I think important because it is trying to evolve, technically and conceptually, the music itself the allocative form being testimony to that endeavour. Generally, I think life itself is experimental, from the micro to macro levels.
Here I am presented with some lovely little experiments in sound, I like it a lot, especially the third track. Never mind my sophistry above, I feel a sense of sincerity in, what I believe to be a successful set of 'experiments'. There was even at attempt to assimilate using silence as key parts of the third track, amid the lovely swirling synthetic music, and it was curiously effective. Keep working at it and fly the flag of liberty for music and creative human expression, in all it's artistic forms.
Look forward to hearing some more!-)
The first track is just brilliant, thoughtful, passionate electronic musical expression at its best, so I'm sold already. Good solid tracks, with nice little variations over the top. Then, the third track steps down, still firmly grounded with nice expressive layers of sound and voice. Nicely balanced.
The fourth track, brings the beat back nicely, with a curious tone to the melody, I like it and I think it's shows proof of a talent to switch so well from one 'creative mindset' to another, and express it cogently. Groups, the fifth track is a very pleasant composition, well-balanced and presented well. Certainly received well!-) The cutoff was interestingly silent for a while, some endings have been a bit abrupt, but silence is sexy, so says Einstürzende Neubauten!-) The last track was a dream. Nice work, very impressive.
I can't help but feel at some disadvantage being typically linguistically-challenged, I think I am missing out on something important but I feel I am going to go out on a limb and say a few words.
I can't help but like what I hear. It sounds refreshing to me and unique and passionate in a magically musical way, that I can't describe because I'm going by gut instinct. This may well be a tip to an iceberg I haven't yet accustomed myself too, or I am right and this musical expression is as dashing and unique as it seems.
Either way, right or wrong, I enjoyed the experience, particularly the first track, and some people think first impressions count for more. Who knows?)
Eminently well orchestrated electronic music with passionate vocals that fit in with the music, rather than relying on some gimmick-like chorus. Even without the vocals I think the music conveys enough drama and emotion as the vocals. There is also a nice balance and use of the dreaded voice. I prefer instrumental music, so this is a good chance for me to explore voice more. I liked it a lot. Nice set of tracks, thanks.
Pain as a track is so harrowing in places that I'm listening to it a second time, to remind me what the two first tracks sounded like. The tribute to an Empress. Anneliese. Then, beautiful organ work, though quite mournful. Next everything seems to go crazy and a brighter tune comes into play, call and response.
Pain like I said is an intensely evocative track, and if that was it's aim, it is it's own veracity, as is the whole EP. There is also a curious sense of graceful honour that seems evident to me.
Death, at first seemed like an ambient, piano-based release from Pain. Then there is a change in tack, and the refrain makes me think of lives in spirals, transubstantiation of the soul. Death and Anneliese are the two stronger tracks in terms of positivity in a profound sense.
A truly moving array of musical expression. God bless and thank you for sharing.
