This album always struck me as having a bit of Mortad Hell in it. It's highly produced, has a somewhat ethereal quality, and is pretty damn awesome. The first track is a definite hit for me and the rest of the album is good. To be honest I kind of prefer TMX's more out-there songs, the ones with big riffs and crazy singing, but this is album is certainly no wimp and I do enjoy it, especially tracks 14 and 15 which I tended to play on repeat quite a bit. All TMX albums are very complete, meaning songs which may not stand out at first sound right when listened to in the context of the rest of the album.
P.S. It's nice to see the baby on the front, and baby noises here and there throughout TMX's work. I'm assuming the baby is his and that that he or she (baby's always seem a bit androgynous to me) will grow up to be an amazing musician just like his or her parents.
One of four albums released by TMX in 2007. Nearly all songs hit those sad notes and there are some very sombre moments indeed. It feels like going to church.
I thought the best was saved for last. Track 4 was also very good. Would liked to have heard a bit more movement in some of the songs. The glitches were very well done. The cover art is impressive. A good release.
Track 11 is the best :)
The koala is a bit random :)
Another beautiful, strange, eclectic and awesome album from the masterful songwriter, TMX!
There are some lovely duets with Christine, which are always nice.
Apart from La Barre, which blew me away (3,4,3,5 - if you're counting! - or 4,5,4,6 maybe?), I like track 6 (Hardcore-Softcore, very cool), track 7, track 13 (wrenches my heart muscle everytime), and the last 2 tracks.
Thanks to TMX for sharing, and to you for reading, and to Jamendo for hosting.
Majestic to the bone. Axis Mundi Actum have a world of inspiration behind them, which I think undoubtedly shines through in their epic, tragic, phenomenal music. A read of their blog is a very interesting one.
Superb techno/electronica release. Real musicianship has gone into this, not simple copying and pasting. The record is pretty much chilled out with occasional moments of drama or suspense. The beats and loops seem very original, with some brilliant trance style parts, and some very nice breakbeats too. Adore is definitely an artist to keep an eye on.
I was a little wary of this record, thinking it was going to sound a little too punky and unoriginal, but I happily found that there was a nice mellow side to this band. It must be the reggae influences. Anyway, I enjoyed listening to this little recording, short though it is, and would like to hear some more songs by The Gakk in the future.
Very different and experimental post-rock record. I think they went too far towards insanity in some places, but who am I to judge? The album is cohesive and the band is obviously skilled. Overall it's a pretty great album, despite the craziness, and if I was stoned I would probably enjoy it a whole lot more.
