Describe your album

The album Increase the Dosage features guest performances by musicians such as Seamus Blake (the Mingus Big Band), Michael Shrieve (Santana) and Matthew Garrison (Herbie Hancock).

The album was released initially on 4/4/2004 but the short-run self-released pressing quickly sold out. It was released again on 9/25/05 in a web package with full album art.

The web package is a self-contained website with hyperlinks directly from the tracklist to MP3 sound files. It features 4 pages of full-color artwork by Seattle artist Shawn Wolfe. (view web package)

Excerpt from All Music Guide review by Matt Borghi:

The Revolution Void recording is excellent and shows quite a gifted blend of sounds that defy genre specification, coming together and becoming quite cohesive. This is a very eclectic recording and one that certainly rewards the listener with a palette for new and intriguing sound. This is a great disc, and one that listeners should definitely look into.

4/5 stars.

each time i listen to this i can't believe this is a free album.

the musicians are capable, competent & tight. the music is intense. each track is well made with great energy. the hybrid of break-beat electronic with fusion jazz is superb.

excellent production quality is just icing on the cake.

highly recommended

Excellent album in every respect. Well mixed with an excellent blend of instrumentation that accents the creativity of the artists.

This album is very impressive in its performance. It sounds like a record you would buy in a store. That, however, is not a mark of quality as you might know.

This album somewhat reminds me of Billy Cobhams 'Spectrum', but without the crazy drumming and totally anarchic solo. This record is slickly produced, no fuzz, just pure slick jazz fusion.

The tracks are different in style and differ somewhat in tempo (not much however). But every track is built the same way: Electro drums, real drums on top, some instrument, pad or piano to make way for some jazzy harmonics, and a solo. Every song is very slick and impressively delivered. However it's like you hear the same song over and over. Therefore I have no favorite track.

The cover really has nothing to do with the music at all. It's not at all druggy or even close to revolutionary. Still, I think it's a good lounge record and a very promising production for the future of free music.

If this band would perform live, they'd probably be wanting to play at a cool bar where people don't want to stay and listen for too long. This would do better in a cool lounge where people stop to have a drink and smoke and talk.

To sum it up: slickly produced but would probably do better as background music in a bar or in some "cool" movie.

This album has been fantastically recorded, the sound is very clean and the artist has done a very profesional job. It's a great ambient noise kind of album, not interesting enough to be just listened to but would be great as background noise with a few people over as it isn't too distracting from conversation.

This is what you want to hear. There is a reason these guys are among the most popular for this tag. STEADY, doesn't stay in one place for too long. CRISP tones, that compliment each other nicely. MMMM, MMMM GOOD!
