Heifervescent is essentially the solo project of Andy Doran, writing, performing and producing each track. The music has often been classed as beautiful yet sullen soundscapes, laying strong simple melodies and chiming guitars onto a bed of ambient string and hypnotic electronic arrangements.
Way before Heifervescent, Andy Doran was singer/songwriter with Monkeyland, a 4 piece indie guitar band based in the North West of England. In the 1990s, in the midst of BritPop, Monkeyland played alongside notable indie bands such as Shed Seven, The House of Love, Power of Dreams and The Railway Children and released Placebo, a 4 track EP. As the decade came to a close, so did the band.
After a few other short lived collaborations, Andy started building up a collection of solo material under the Heifervescent label, the first of which was Hoofed and Dangerous (2002), a melodic indie pop album. Then came the more folky Verbal Bandit. Following this, the songs have often taken a darker path, but often sprinkled with a twist of humour.
After 2016's Logic Decimator, Andy was reunited with Monkeyland who have come back together to record a number of tracks, which you can find on the Monkeyland Website and on all major streaming platforms.
2018 has opened with Heifervescent's 12th album "Excuses for the Common Man"
For those of you who prefer to listen on paid streaming platforms then you'll find Heifervescent there as well.
