The House of the Old Boat is the moniker of South London songwriter/producer Jo Lion. The sound is epic folk rock with diverse instrumentation from regal brass to majestic overdubbed choirs to electronic rhythms. Influences include such emotional heavyweights as Elliott Smith, Bon Iver and Sigur Ros. Recorded with regular collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Catherine Mason (of The Foxglove Trio) over eighteen months they proudly present their second full length album 'We didn't mean to go to sea LP'.

Piccadilly is a distortion-guitar-violin-based song with interesting arrangements/stops/tempochanges. At some point one will be reminded of Del Amitri, especially the singing is quite familiar. But I like it, although the production could be more on the spot, clearer with less going on.
