I.S.S is musical project of Martin Mikulecky, formerly known as Mikying. I started composing in 1992 on cheap synthesizer. In 1996 I started to create music on PC in Impulse Tracker and I was active in that area until 2006, when limitations of that software caused loss of my interest. Then I took a long break.
In December 2013 I decided to come back with more modern sound. One reason was album of my friend Electronic Flash Unit, which is quite inspiring in sound. Another reason was the VST synthesizers of today, which sound unbelievably good. And, at last, the reason was the Jamendo community, which is just the place for my compositions.
All my music is dedicated to the most inspiring synthesizer band of all time - Tangerine Dream. You can contact me privately at mmikulec (at) post (dot) cz.
This album is an example why we should pay more attention to people, who release their music for free. This is sequencer based Berlin School, but just complex enough to make it as interesting as the more recognized bands in the genre.
Considering how many Berlin-style electronic music albums there are, it is quite daring to say that this one stands out. Unlike many (or most) of his peers, the author of Baikonur Fields knows that it is not easy to make sequence-based music interesting throughout the entire album. While it might not be an overwhelmingly original album (Tangerine Dream from early 1980s or Future System Projekt spring to mind), it is melodic, varied yet compact, and pleasant to listen to. Plus, it sustains the listener's attention throughout - and given the fact that there are far too many efforts in the very same style of music (even from professional musicians) that fail horribly at attempting that, this says something.
Highly recommended for everyone who likes good Berlin-style electronic music!
