The Breculê band dedicates itself to Brazilian music in all of its instrumental, rhythmic, harmonic and poetic possibilities. Delicate compositions and bold arrangements infuse from traditional regional styles like maracatus and baiões to percussive waltzes and sambas, leading to renewed hybrid rhythms that explore various tonalities and instrumental combinations. In Breculê’s music, familiar sounds gain new textures and find new paths. Their first album Vidas Volantes, released in 2010, has had an overwhelmingly positive reception by the public and in the press. The show, named after the album, has traveled all around the state of Ceará, and among its accolades, was the headliner at the III Petrúcio Maia Festival sponsored by the Municipality of Fortaleza. Breculê also participated in the IX Music Fair of Fortaleza, and the X Culture Fair in Salvador, Bahia, performing in the city’s famous Castro Alves Theater. Also in 2010, guitarist Pedro Fonseca received the first prize in the Alberto Nepomuceno Awards for the song “D’Ela” (track 6 of the CD). Besides Pedro Fonseca (voice and guitar), the Breculê is composed by Fabrício Rocha (voice and guitar), Milton Ferreira (bass), Jordão Luz (trumpet) and the three percussionists, Fábio Marques, Tulio Bias, and Igor Ribeiro. During live concerts, they are joined by invited guests , Mathilde Filiat (violin), Dan Sebastian (trumpet) and Marcelo Santos (sax).
Banda brasileira que vai beber na fonte do que há de melhor da nossa cultura. Passeando da malemolência nordestina ao suíngue carioca, do xote, frevo, baião, ao samba de raiz, é hoje minha banda preferida. Escutem!
