“Music is what feelings sound like,” says singer/songwriter Joanna Theresa Heart, the vocal force behind Los Angeles-based band Doll Patrol. Doll Patrol got their in late 2007 when they rocked their first show at the five-band indie showcase “Plow” in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. Categorized in the Rock genre (earning descriptions such as “Dark Pop” and “Heavy Melodic”), Doll Patrol’s unique sound gained an impressive following that continues to grow. The band came together when lead vocalist Joanna Heart (a Philly native with a love for the West Coast), and guitarist Gilbert Garcia (an amazing player with amazing hair) joined forces. They quickly realized that combined, their duo was a creative land mine. They spent countless sessions filling stacks of notebooks with kick ass melodies that would mark the beginning of a musical partnership for the books. With the addition of Blue Dickson (a feisty southern belle) on bass and Alfredo Vega (the guy who will snap a snare at practice and then offer his jacket to a stranger at the bus stop) on drums, the musical tour de force that is Doll Patrol was complete. Their first EP “Self Tidaled Wave” was released in December of 2009. It was recorded at Swinghouse Studios in Hollywood, CA and was produced by Warren Huart who has worked with such artists as Better Than Ezra, The Fray, Korn and Hot Hot Heat. Doll Patrol continues to rock swanky bars, clubs and lounges throughout the Los Angeles area. Look for them as they frequent the Bordello and other fine establishments in the city.
